šŸ“ The Portal Watch 2020-2021: Florida's Emory Jones announces intent to enter the transfer portal

From what I've seen, they've downgraded at QB, while removing the Patrick problem from the equation.

Curious how these NIL deals are written. As many of these deals are region based (aka of little value in Oregon)

Based on what we've seen from Calzada as compared to Finley? I'd agree. Versus Nix it isn't a question.

What we don't know: how good of a quarterbacks coach is Austin Davis? Bobo has a track record of doing well with quarterbacks. We didn't see it with Nix: I need to be convinced it wasn't on Nix. Can Davis get more out of Calzada than Fisher? That's a low bar. More than Orgeron and staff got out of Finley? That's not a tall order either, is it?

I have always felt that Jimbo was a pretty good QB coach and OC. He is no Norm Chow, but I Fisher has always seemed to develop his QB's .

I was looking and Bobo hasn't landed anywhere yet. I have never thought he was crazy good, but if BOB leaves to go back to the NFL.......I think Bobo could do well under Saban. I wonder if he would go and pull Will Friend and them two try and pair up again. Those two put together some pretty good teams over at UGA under Richt. I never gave it much thought until @TerryP mentioned in another thread about all the QB's developed under Bobo at UGA. I feel confident he would accel under Saban's tutelage.

I agree, I think Plumlee seems to be made for Gus, and considering the competition level, they might even make a run at another MNC. The operative word here being "Mythical"

Who has he developed? Did we see any improvement from Kellen Mond? We did see Winston digress under Fisher in every category; literally.

Jimbo has always been a good recruiter. It's a myth he's some sort of mystical offensive guru and that was 'spouted' a lot during his time at LSU and Auburn before that.

Like I said, Jimbo is no Norm Chow, but you make it sound like he is the second coming of Gus Malzahn of QB coaches.

Mond was nothing spectacular, but I can remember him maturing some and dropping some dimes as he progressed. I think Mond was much like Hurts in the fact that he couldn't make it through his progressions without getting happy feet and running.

Jimbo has coached 4 first round draft selections at QB. Most of them were busts, but he made them look good in college.

Jemarcus Russel, Christian Ponder, EJ Manual, and Jamies Winston.

One I think will stay and that is William Anderson? I think if and it a big if. even if he talk about going pro. His five sister would smack him silly.
Only a sophomore, so he has to stay 1 more year. Now I don’t see this happening, but a kid with Will’s game film already after two years, could opt out next year and the NFL wouldn’t bat an eye. Again, only a sophomore, so he will be back and better next fall!

JAD is one to watch due to the impact it could have across the board. He may head to the league, but if he stays what are we going to see at corner? Is Kyree the odd man out with JAD and Kool-Aid on the corners?

And now they're adding Ricks to the mix.

When they go to nickel and dime we're going to see Branch and Moore.

Robinson and Arnold are both left out here. I don't know what to make of Arnold right now but there has been stories circulating about him looking around. Robinson seems to be on a plateau at the moment: neither moving up or down the depth chart.

...and that's just the defensive backs.

Thats not a lot...
Don't get your hopes up. We're going to see guys leave from every position group sans maybe one. Maybe.

He's listed seven there. To that we need to add:

Tennison,
Ray,
Moody,
Allen,
Wright,
Owens,
and Randolph.

If we just see one leave from the defensive backs there's a total of 15.
