šŸˆ The need for a second rb going into the stretch.

Great win on Saturday but one thing that was evident to me is that we need a second running back to help Henry. I'm not sure what's going on with Drake but he looks nothing like the running back before the injury. He's stumbling over his own feet, happy feet in the backfield and simply not the same guy we've seen.

So unless Drake makes a magical change for the better do y'all think we are going to see more of Harris or Bo starting this Saturday? There's NO WAY Henry can continue the 36 carries every game. Simply no way.

Thoughts?

Everytime Drake was on the field, the offense turned to crap. Not sure if the play calling was the difference when he was in the game, but they looked really unorganized and had alot of negative plays. Henry got pretty gassed in the 3rd and 4th and needed some help. Really don't understand why Harris and Bo haven't gotten more carries. It almost lloked like they were trying to help Henry break some record. The only other thing I can think of is Henry's ability to pass block so well. Maybe Harris and Bo can't block like the coaches need.

Maybe they can't block as was said, but there was no reason one of those guys couldn't tote the rock on that last drive after the game was decided. Scarborough would have been perfect for those last few carries to take some hits when we had the ball in their territory, excellent weather, good rest since he played last.

Did you see that one replay they showed where Drake stumbled over his own feet and fell down? It was when Danielson was talking about when they had conversations with Saban and staff about Drake "pressing" wanting to make every play a touchdown. If he would have kept his footing he would have went for at least 25 yards.

Drake is a slot receiver, IMO. We could not run outside vs. A&M, but for some reason, we continued to think that Drake could. His #'s tell the story there. Also, everyone in the country is waiting for Ridley on the sweep. That does not work either. It hasn't in three games. Scarborough sure would be a nice compliment to Henry, but I'm sure the coaches have their reasons for him not playing much. It may be an injury, or it may be that he hasn't fully grasped the offense. Who knows. I am 100% sure that I would not want to have to come up and hit either one of those dudes. Hats off to #14 for A&M. That kid was laying the wood to us every chance he got. He didn't wrap up, but he damn sure wasn't scared to hit Henry head on. He may not know his name today, but he is a ball player in my book.

we need to scrap that speed sweep play thing. it has worked maybe 5% of the time this year. It has been negative yardage MANY times.

I think that the way the plays are being called, it's a bit of a tell for Drake to be in the backfield. Generally, he isn't going a lot of pass blocking so when he's in you gotta think he is getting the ball. Hence the shutdown by the D.

I think he needs to be at slot or have a lead blocker or another RB in the backfield to keep the LBs more honest. He needs to get the ball more though to get his football legs back. Right now he seems anxious and uncomfortable in the play.

Harris or Bo need to get some snaps at RB .

You have any idea why Harris isn't getting any touches at RB? We trust him enough to handle kick offs but not enough to get some meaningful carries in a game to give Henry some rest.

I completely agree. I think they should have been getting the ball-especially BO. I wasn't saying the blocking should keep them from running the ball. I was just saying it might be the coaches explanation to them not playing.

yes to this

yes. I did. The point? It's the only decent play when he was in there. He needs to be used in combination with another back on the field or in the slot.

IMO, when Drake is in the ballgame, there's a 90% chance he's going to get it. A Stewart hasn't set the world on fire with his receiving. Ridley has had a few explosive plays, but not consistently. Defenses know Drake is going to get the ball. Get some additional threats and he should be okay.

Henry is like a mack truck....in traffic he can push his way through. Once he gets going kinda hard to stop.

Drake is like a corvette. ...... in traffic can get bottled in and stall. But if an opening comes good luck catching up

With that being said. Traffic isn't gonna open up till our passing games gets more consistent deep. So I say put the corvette out in a lane where there's less traffic.

Correct. One big problem on the sweeps and screens is the blocking, specifically Ardarius Stewart, and it's called too often. Where has the wheel route for Drake been this year?

not going to start Coker bashing right now because i really liked how balls out he played saturday... especially his runs.... but his play action fakes and handoffs in general could improve A LOT. the timing seems a bit weird and there often is too long of a delay to the RB getting the ball and hitting the hole.
