Yeah, I know, chicks dig the long ball, but I am starting to dig it also.

After years of wincing every time I saw our quarterback wind up for the deep ball, I am now relaxed about it. There once was a time I hated seeing that throw, feeling like it was a wasted down. But know, for the first time in feels like forever, I am loving that play. GMac has been an absolute standout on that throw. After watching the Ark-UGA game Saturday, I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. I can't wait for Saturday....

UGA had three completions over 40 yards against ARK and 6 completions over 25. I’m guessing Maze will have 6 catches for 180 and 3 TDs this weekend.

The difference, to me, is that while we may have an occasional breakdown in coverage, they don't have a coverage to begin with. We have a coverage breakdown, they slip up an cover someone. BIG DIFFERENCE.

covering arkansas' passing game will be much easier than FIU.. arkansas does not run the spread. alabama will be able to play base defense against them.. probably play nickle sometimes, but no dime package.. this means that bama will have the personel to get heavy pressure on mallet.. this is something that he has not contended with..

I have to disagree with you here.

I'm thinking we are going to play nickel at least 75% of the time.

Fiu also hurt alabama by running pick plays underneath... we will see a vertical passing game against arkansas.. i think we can play our safteys deep and help our corners.. we will deffinately have the run covered up front.. what we really need is rashad johnson..

Petrino does like the deep ball. But, he's also the kind of play caller that will take what's given to him.

I see our defensive approach as one that will try to keep the play in front of us. So, those little five and eight yard routes we'll see—that's one reason I think Arkansas will get their yards.

But, the thing about Petrino's offense is it gets progressive harder to run the closer they get to the goal line.

I think, based on what I saw in the Georgia game, we should be able to get pressure with a seven man front. We might not get the sacks because I see Mallett being limited to short, three and five step drops.

Saban made the comment today in his press conference that you want to take away what a team does best. Therein, is the deep ball with the 'Backs.

How we attack them on defense is one of the things I'm looking forward to seeing. How we do it, as in my guess, is just that...my guess.

Honestly, about the same as VT. But, with more success. I suspect the first part of the game will be close, but our offensive line will wear out their front seven and as the game goes on our offense churns more and more and more and more...

From a physical standpoint, I expect this game to be UGLY by the time the 4th quarter rolls around. The scoreboard probably won't reflect how dominate we are going to be.

Georgia had 155 rushing yards, we have a very, very good chance to put 200 or more up.

Just my opinion, but of their front seven Russell Shepherd is the only one who would be seeing the field if he were at Alabama. If they stay vanilla on defensewe'll pound away at their front seven with the running game. If they put eight in the box to stop the run we cut up their secondary with the pass.

Arkansas has a serious lack of depth on the defensive side of the ball. Not only do our starters(excluding Shepard) seem to be out-manned, but we don't have anyone to relieve them with quality snaps. This will be bad news come the second half.

I don't necessarily think our db's are that bad, but when the opposing qb has so much time to go through his progressions they can't maintain coverage forever.

On the other side of the ball, our offensive line has me scratching my head. They seem to be able to pass-block better than run-block. I believe the hogs can move the chains, but it won't be enough to keep up in the end.

Question: Does Arkansas run from a shotgun or pistol formation? If so, we may struggle at times, because it's harder to get pressure in those two formations. Unlike last week, we will NOT be giving up 5 passing TDs.

If not, we get 3 sacks and 1 int for the game.

That is interesting. I did not get to watch much of that game. All I know is my friend kept calling talking about how bad UGA's D looked the first half.

Low third down % teams did not do so well against Bama last year.

A work buddy (UGA grad) said most of their DBs are freshman and inexperienced. And that is why Ark had so many yards passing. Hopefully our seniors will have a better day.

Ark looked to stay in a more traditional I and Pro set offense with limited if any shotgun.
