It sounds like folklore to Snopes. There was stories published about it in the late 1800s but snopes believes it is folklore. Racist folklore.

There is no other way to be on a convergent path as Americans. If we can't agree first that we are all Americans and not some other subgroup that needs preferential treatment, we are headed nowhere fast and likely will end in unnecessary strife and bloodshed.
Real facts are hard to know in history. Dying on the cross was cruel. The church inquisition was terrible, and history is full of terrible things. The one that the French did to their government (beheaded them) reminds us that you can only rule folks if they let you. Reminds me of a saying I heard from grandpa. Don't look to the government for justice cause all you will find is just us. Keep your powder dry friends.
