The Kansas Comet was an outstanding running back with the Bears until knee injuries forced him into an early retirement. One of the best IMO to play the position. Rest in peace Mr. Sayers!

Gale Sayers was probably the best runner I ever saw play. That says a lot, considering having also watched Earl Campbell, Walter Peyton and Barry Sanders have extraordinary careers.

Many seventh grade ELA curricula include teaching "Brian's Song" (our teachers are teaching it now). Besides learning of the fight in Pic, the students learn about that great moment of racial harmony as well as what an awesome player and person Gale Sayers was.
