Unfortunately I think we're going to be seeing more of this in the future. Kids delaying signings (to make colleges jump through hoops and up the ante), having "handlers", and contemplating going to the CFL.

I wonder what the NCAA is going to do about this? This case, along with the O.J. Mayo recruitment is setting a really bad precedent for college athletics.

Anyway, here's another article on Brown. He's going to sign, he's not going to sign, so on and so forth. If I were LSU or UT I'd run the other way. This kid and situation has trouble written all over it.

To say that I am glad we haven't been involved with this kid is a colossal understatement. Talent certainly is an important factor in a recruit, but so are coachability and how well he will fit in with his teammates. My advice to those still seeking his services is to tell him to lose the handler or we're gone. CFL away if he wishes. He'll see cold weather that will make him long for Kansas winters.

I applaud Shannon if he's really thinking about cutting ties with this guy. I understand that at every level there are superstars in sports. There are always going to be players that get special treatment and perks. But this goes way beyond that. When your own HS coach makes the statement that you are a "me-first" type of player you've got problems. In another quote he says, "we had the best player in the country and still lost 4 games". That statement coming on the heels of allegations that Brown was advised by his pimp to coast late in games once he got his.

If Shannon is laying down the law then I respect that. I hope it's not a ploy to pressure Brown, because if it is, Miami deserves the eventual NCAA backlash they'll get by dealing with this kid and his pimp.

If I understand what I have read correctly, the LOIs which could have been first signed on NSD expire today. It would serve Brown right if no one who's currently got one out there for him offered a new one, at least not right away.

Whoever does sign him is going to be under a cloud from the NCAA. Even O J Mayo wasn't this blatant about things.

Let TN get him and then hear how they brag that they got the best player with the best money... oops I meant best recruiters. Anyone with half a brain will steer clear of this kid and his pimp. I guess he is a perfect fit for TN and Lame Kiffin.

I'm definitely concerned about the future of recruiting also. It's easy to see a trend with Pryor and now Brown/Oku delaying their signings. I think the NCAA should set the must sign date to NSD or at least a week later. It's kind of ridiculous...
