šŸ“” The funny thing about this year is if the current playoff field holds Alabama might have the ā€œworstā€ defense of the four.

What stat is he using? I can't find a single one where Bama would be last out of the top 4. Notre Dame is obviously the worst out of the 4 .

Stat - Bama, Clemson, Michigan, ND

Opp 3rd Down % - 8,6,11,48

Defensive TD - 3,32,5,UNRANKED

First Downs Defense - 5,2,4,41

INT Made - 20,88,41,26

Passing Defense - 10,11,1,20

Red Zone Defense - 3,17,127,19

Rushing Defense - 17,3,14,39

Scoring Defense - 3,2,4,14

Total Defense - 6,1,2,20

Haven’t really watch any of the other teams... but our stats are a bit skewed with the 2nd and 3rd team play for much of the 4th quarters.

this is what needs to be taken into account on his statement. he needs to redo the numbers using ONLY 1st team stats. and id' find it hilarious is our stats, using so much 2nd and 3rd team players, were still as high as they are if the other teams were using their starters for most, if not all, of their games. and that would just be a testament to how good our backups and the backup's backups are.

I'm pretty much convinced that anyone who has great defensive stats simply hasn't played many good spread teams. Like coach Saban has made clear on many occasions, you can't stop offensives and shut them down anymore. Michigan is a good example. They've been living a charmed life up north in the mean ole B1G. They ran into a talented and elite spread em out and chunk it team. How does 62 points feel there Harbaugh?

You just have to be able to score with the best teams in this country if you are going to dance with the big boys. The best defenses against these guys are to get a pass rush and elite DBs that can cover like bark on a tree. Bama has them and I would argue, as young as we are, that Savion Smith and Patrick Surtain are as good as any cornerbacks anyone else can put on a football field. McKinney, Thompson, and Carter ain't bad themselves.
