GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Junior quarterback Tyler Murphy, who started six games for the Gators this season, intends to transfer, the school confirmed on Sunday.

Murphy becomes the latest Gators player to choose to leave the program. Last Thursday, the school confirmed six players' decisions to transfer.
Under NCAA transfer rules, Murphy, who graduated on Saturday, will be eligible to play next season without sitting out a year.
Murphy threw for 1,216 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions in leading Florida to a 2-4 record in games he started. A reserve for each of his three seasons at Florida, Murphy came on in relief of junior starter Jeff Driskel, who broke his leg in Week 3 against Tennessee.
With freshman Max Staver also transferring, Florida will now have just two scholarship QBs on its roster. It does expect to sign top recruit Will Grier, ESPN's No. 2 QB prospect in the nation, in January.
The Gators' other returning quarterback, redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg, started the final three games of the season when Murphy aggravated a sprain in his throwing shoulder. Murphy first hurt his shoulder against LSU on Oct. 12. The Gators lost that game and the final six games on their schedule.

This from a UF fan on an SEC board about the 6.

"Kent Taylor - Soft as hell, couldnt get on the field because he didn't feel like putting in the effort with blocking to make any real contributions.

Trevon Young - Project O Lineman, was originally a basketball player and he's going back to basketball

Quinteze Williams - Buried on the D Line depth chart, Moved to OT. Didn't see the field when we were going through our O Lineman carousel so I doubt he was anything more than a body at T.

Ian Silberman - Would be a senior next year and he probably wouldnt start without injury so I guess he wants to get some stuff on tape before the nfl.

Max Staver - Was a reach last year anyways, wrong scheme fit at QB moving forward is what he said so thats that.

Heim Ledbetter - Came in a package deal with Jon Bullard, undersized safety who got buried in the depth chart, moved to FB and didn't do much there. Probably going to Eastern Carolina."

And this from the Administrator of that board. Another UF fan, but he's married to a Bama gal so he's OK.

"
Thinning the herd and making some room; hopefully the extra schollies get picked up by legit contributors."
