šŸˆ The disparity between divisions within conferences needs no further explanation than these few facts.

ACC Atlantic has won 9 title games in a row

B1G East is 6-0

SEC West has won 10 of 11

Pac-12 North is 8-1

While the Big 12 doesn't have a divisional format now a team from the South won the last seven before the change. OU, which has won the last three, was in the South.

It would be interesting if the SEC did to football, what they did to basketball and do away with divisions, per se. I know it is easier in Basketball, but they could eliminate divisions and have the 2 best teams play out. I'm sure there would have to be some tie breaker type scenarios.

@rammerjammer, @rocknthefreeworld,

I fear unintended consequences with with a pod system and the conference championship game (and with the windfall the CCG's allow conferences monetarily, along with no CCG essentially keeping a team out of any playoff scenarios like we saw in the Big 12 a few years ago.)

Team A is ranked #1, let's say it's OU.
Team B is ranked #2, let's say it's Okie State.

11/30/XX - OU and Okie State play in the regular season and OSU wins. It drops OU to #4, OSU jumps to #1.
12/07/XX - Since they are the best two in the Big 12, we see OU and OSU play again. OU wins bumping them higher than OSU and of course OSU drops. Call it OU moving to #1 or #2 and OSU dropping to #3 or #4.
12/28XX - First round of the semi finals have #1 vs #4, or #2 vs #3. Either way, for the third time in less than a month we're seeing both teams play each other.

There are teams in the SEC I don't want to see more than once on Bama's schedule. It has nothing to do with anything other than dealing with the hype from fans and media about a game that I find once a year to almost be too much. Imagine playing Auburn twice, or possibly three times. (How many times will we hear the the misplaced moniker, "Iron Bowl?")

My kingdom for the return to the old bowl system, shared titles, and the debates that come with that era.

@mando, once is certainly enough. It's become such a small world with the 'net I don't relish the idea of hearing about them more than we do now.

On a side note, it's one of the benefits of not having the off-week before Auburn. We had to listen to that crap for two weeks versus seven days.

not to beat a dead horse, but funny anecdote to the 1 second thing. I was watching a game this weekend, forgot who it was, but same similar situation, the team makes a first down with 3 seconds left, they run up to the line of scrimmage, wait for the ball to be set and snap immediately, but time ran out. How could the same scenario take 3 seconds (or more) when Auburn was able to get a field goal off with only 1?
