Alabama took a gamble and went with true freshman Cam Robinson as the starting left tackle.

It was a risky move due to his inexperience, but the five-star athlete held his own with a his 6-foot-6, 323-pound frame.

Robinson started the first four games. He’s part of an offensive line that allowed only three quarterback sacks, two of them with the backups in the game.

ā€œCam did a good job; has played better in every game from the first game on,ā€ coach Nick Saban said. ā€œHe’s playing with more confidence because of the knowledge and experience that he has. He has played better every game, and he played his best game the last game.ā€

Senior left guard Arie Kouandjio likes blocking next to Robinson.

ā€œI think Cam did very well,ā€ Kouandjio said. ā€œHe’s still learning. Cam showed a lot of growth in the short amount of time. I have faith in him and I enjoy playing with him.ā€

Kouandjio also compares Robinson to his brother, Cyrus, who stood out for the Crimson Tide and is now in the NFL.

ā€œThere pretty similar in a lot of things,ā€ Kouandjio said. ā€œThey both have mental energy, focus. They really want to be tenatious and give all they have and do well.ā€

He's one of the three Freshman, along with Tony Brown and Rashaan Evans that I thought would make the biggest impact. He is such a large man as I stood by him at Fan Day. Very happy for him and his success and I know it'll only produce more quality starts in the future.
