🏈 The B1G says, "no more FCS opponents" but Michigan drops Va Tech for Arkansas State.

To me, this makes more sense to me as a fan than to play one of the directional schools we play. Bama would still get revenue with lodging and food pumped into the Tuscaloosa area.
Tuscaloosa would still get revenue, but far less than one of the other schools. For the most part it's a four hour trip for those who live in state and the majority of those fans are going to travel back and forth on Saturday.

That assessment ranks right up there with the evolution theory. Heavy on the dogma and short on evidence. You obviously want to give all power 5 programs more cred for today's football then yesteryear. I assume you aren't including FCS teams, but in your insistence to keep coming back to this comparison, maybe you are.
There's not a single thing here that fits with what I understand he said. There's no mention of FCS schools in what you've quoted. It doesn't take a genius to see a three win NC State game isn't quality competition and it fits what people are crying for; home and home series.

It was proffered as some loophole with what appeared to be a suggestion we'd see more home and home series if we didn't see the Tide play neutral site games. Over the two decades mentioned we see it didn't. The evidence you claim isn't there is found in record books. UCLA, as mentioned, is on par with Duke. NC State ranks below Duke and Louisville. Yet, those are the two we see people complaining about.

The suggestion there's more credit given to current football teams today than that of yesteryear is also true. You've admitted such when we've had discussion on recruiting, parity, and scholarship limits.

So, I don't think he met FCS teams. But I'm not 100% sure, It's a simple point. The rest of this stuff is about perception. Fans want more brand names in the lineup. The harder the course the better for Bama. I know it, coach Saban knows it. That's all.

That may be true but many fans would stay all night for the experience or at least come to Tuscaloosa to tailgate and spend money.

Well, um, both? I've been around sites he's ran for a long time. I think I understand the majority of what he's said over the last few years. I should. I first started following him back in the AOL days ('95 or '96.) Yep, 20 freakin' years. Damn. I should be able to understand what's he driving at after that length of time.
