I remember listening to this game on a transistor radio. I don't remember if it was even on TV but I do remember it started very late, around 9 pm. central time, and the only place that radio would pick up the station was in the bathroom sitting in the window. John Forney and Doug Layton were the radio guys then. I didn't have a clue what "the wishbone" even was at that time but I quickly learned to love it over the next several years. What I didn't remember was what Bama wore at that game. Do you?

I believe Perkins tried to rock the white helmets a few times but it was a sometime tradition that just went away. Great video, even in the warm-ups coach Bryant wasn't giving the bone away. Crimson Tide's fabulous 70's was on and I lived 20 minutes from Legion Field. Didn't get any better

I miss the white helmets. The last time we wore them was when we played at Boston College in 1983.
