📝 Texas vs Texas A&M recruiting heating up

Texas A&M landed 2 - 5* on Wednesday and expected to land a 4* and 5* on Friday.

Instead, Texas lands both the 4* (DeAndre McNeal) and 5* (Malik Jefferson #1 ILB) and Texas A&M gets a decommitment from 5* DT Daylon Mack on the same day. How much of this was related to Texas A&M not having a DC? Who knows. It's my opinion, if Texas A&M doesn't land a solid DC, Sumlin won't make it 3 years (I still can't believe he's a $5m a year coach). Seems like they are waiting on Bud Foster to get his $800k check for completing 5 years of employment which is due at the end in 2014.

As most of you know, Texas recruits itself. Mack Brown had the luxury of sitting his ass in his office and basically doing nothing for years while he landed top 5/10 classes year after year.

Ironically Sumlin isn't smirking or sending those stupid-ass yessir tweets after Friday's recruiting debacle...

I have the privilege (or misfortune) of having to listen to their fans regularly. And it is weeks like this that make me smile, much like this season. They started out flying so high, a new QB and beating South Carolina like they did, only to end up with 5 loses and an epic beatdown by the Crimson Tide 59-0.

The guy that posted this bit over on TI isn't what I'd call a recruiting insider by any means...BUT, he does surf around the 'net quite a bit compiling a lot of different observations. He titled this thread, "The arrogance of Sumlin bit him in the butt today."

from an a&m mod: on wednesday sumlin had a deal in place to hire durkin from uf as the dc, but put it on hold to go after chavis. malik jefferson asked sumlin on wednesday what was going on and sumlin refused to tell him. today 5* malik jefferson picked texas and 5* daylon mack decommitted because they don't trust sumlin. now there is talk that several more commits (5* kyler murray) may go elsewhere.

Laughing hard at this one...

This is something ex Texas A&M DC Mark Synder tweeted out after getting some commitments in May. Apparently Daylon Mack had no idea what it meant and he asked Snyder. Two and a half weeks later, the Mack family filed a trademark request under the father Coris.

Pretty funny watching both fanbases go back and forth like either of them actually mean anything to college football right now. Congratulations on the commitments, but we all know Texas has been getting them for years and hasn't broken the barrier of the greatest, atleast from what I believe.

@TerryP

I don't see this happening...but if it did, could you imagine the LSU fan base after this.

Something I heard the other day was it could be Florida's DC under Muschamp Durkin and Michigan's DC Greg Mattison.

One to keep your eye out for, Kyler Murray going to Texas. According to the interwebs, the stars could be aligning and have him going this direction. I'll go so far as to say, if Kyler ends up in Texas, Sumlin's time in College Station is going to be shorter than I've anticipated.

Could be an exciting 10 days...
