🏈 texas vs tamu thread

Tex: Colt McCoy
24/40 302 yds 4 TD
TexA&M: J. Johnson
26/33 343 yds 4 TD

JJ has better stats than Mccoy so that means mccoy cant be the best player in the state of texas much less the nation right?

You gotta a good point there, BigAl.

Btw, I loved the comment in the 4th quarter about the Aggie fans sucking so much face.

I bet the folks in Lincoln are shuckin' their corn right now after watching that sorry display of defense (if you can even call it a defense) by the Longhorns.

JJ is a fine QB, if you look at his overall stats for the the year, JJ in some categories better than McCoy. JJ has more passing and more rushing TD's, but in terms of passing accuracy, McCoy wins that battle.

ESPN is stressing ALL-PURPOSE yards for McCoy, and listing him with 5 TDs. (I suppose ALL-PURPOSE is a presedent that helps INGRAM).

My concern is that McCoy's numbers against a HORRIBLE Defense will be weighted equally with INGRAM's numbers that are heavy with Yards After Contact against SEC Defenses.

Am I right in thinking that showing the Defense that they played HELPS INGRAM, in that it cheapens McCOY's numbers?

I think they'll be pretty partial to McCoy.
In the long run, I don't think it's going to matter.
Mark Ingram will have something that Colt has always dreamed of...

You have to give McCoy credit, passing for 304 and rushing for 175. If Ingram rushes for 175 today, we'll all say he had a great game. McCoy got his 175 against the 76th ranked rushing defense. Ingram goes up against number 88 today. From a total defense standpoint (yards yielded), atm was 100th in the nation, while aubrun is 56th.

What erks me is that when the defender is closing in, a QB can play "Hot Potato" with the ball by passing to someone else. Then the QB gets credit for any yards and points scored by the receiver, AND is protected from being hit under threat of a 15 yard personal foul against the Defense.

When Mark Ingram is about to be hit, he must take the hit...and out of that has gained nearly 50% of his yards after taking the punishment that a QB is protected from.

Who is Mark Ingram's Shipley?
