🏈 Tentative plan for Mizzou to join SEC, Auburn would move to East, sources say

The Southeastern Conference and the University of Missouri have informally agreed that, barring new developments, the school will join the league and that Auburn University will move to the SEC East Division, according to two people familiar with the discussions.
A majority of presidents has endorsed the informal agreement, the sources said.

I suppose that means we are dropping one non conference patsy and adding another lock in from the other division? If not, we either rotate Tennessee or Auburn. Which would suck. Although the possibility of playing Auburn in the SEC Championship would be interesting.

If that were to happen, I seriously hope that we keep UT and let Agburn fade into obscurity on a rotation. The rivalry is unhealthy.

Most Bama fans couldn't care less if we play them, while Agbarn's existence is predicated on playing us. Without Agbarn we are still Alabama. Without us, Agbarn is just Clemson without a lake.

My guess is, everything is shutting down now. A&M likely won't come, neither will Mizzou. But IF, IF, IF the SEC still decides to move to 14 (for the sake of staying ahead of everyone else) does Oklahoma come into play now with A&M. The long horn deal has obviously upset every team in the Big 12.

Personally, I like things at 12.

Losing one of the two is a card that's in play. It's the evolution of collegiate sports.

A few weeks ago it dawned on me how the SEC was originally set up and how differently things are approached today. One thing I hadn't thought about was how the original presidents set it up with two teams per state. Alabama and Auburn. Tennessee and Vandy. Georgia and Georgia Tech and on down the line.

Now, it appears the last thing they want to do—in thoughts on expansion—is have two teams in a state.

Another option that eliminates any problem with our series with Auburn would be moving Alabama and Auburn to the east leaving the West with LSU, A&M, Ole Miss, Ms. St., UArk, Vandy, and Mizzou.
