Guys, I don't post a lot these days and most of you guys probably don't remember me, but I am a Bama Homer who sleeps with crimson colored glasses on. So, I lurk around here often. I was watching the Vandy game earlier and they had a linebacker go down before the half. I heard a report a few minutes ago that the kid was breathing, but not moving or being responsive. He is currently in surgery. It is a head injury. Take a second and say word to the man upstairs for this kid please?

My wife has been scouring the internet looking for updates and nothing is being reported at this time. Derek Mason’s end of game interview was tough to watch. You could tell he was choked up...”football is secondary”. I do pray for this young man.

At least he is out of surgery. Now...time to work on healing. You hear these stories almost weekly about a kid from somewhere dealing with a serious injury (and I am not trying to make light of any of those) but this one really struck me. That's why I made the thread.

From the report I heard... it seemed to infer a serious head trauma... like an equipment failure of some sort. I don't know if that is the case, but it seemed like there was more to this than a concussion type injury

Almost sounds like a stroke or an aneurysm. Thoughts out to his friends and family. At least he is in a good hospital, hope that helps in his recovery.

I have also heard subdural hematoma caused by a previous hit that took a while to manifest. Any of those would make sense with the fact that nobody can spot anything near the actual incident that could have caused it.

Wow, really hate hearing this. Prayers to him and really hope for a full recovery. Very good hospital up there at Vanderbilt, so hopefully they can get him back to 100%.
