šŸ“ Tennessee has landed a big one: 5⭐ QB, Nico Iamaleava, has committed to the Vols.

Arch is picking Georgia or Texas. Not sure why we (BAMA) continue to entertain the notion that he might come to BAMA because he's not. Ole Miss has a better chance at landing him. JMO.

If you're right, I'd rather see him go to Texas than Georgia. Atleat Sarkesian could grown him and wrap an offense around him. Kirby still hasn't done anything to show he can grow a quarterback.

That's not what I was told.... Alabama is in good shape with Arch....Where are you getting the idea that Georgia, Ole Miss or Texas are getting them...

Texas- Sark? He won't be at Texas long...
Ole Miss- Kiffin and His uncle and granddaddy played for Ole Miss?
Georgia- relationship with Kirby? Can Kirby overcome the issue lacking development with QB?

Don't believe what you hear in news.... everything will sort itself out.

Yep, big get for them. I have no doubt our pursuit of Arch caused him to pull the trigger early on this one. He really liked us and Tennessee. He's a big boy, 6'5, 195.
I’m not going to be too disappointed if we don’t get any of the big names in the 2023 QB recruiting class. I think Ty has what it takes to be a big time QB for Bama and I think a lot of those guys know it. I mean they saw him on the summer circuits. Of course, I know Coach Saban, like all coaches, wants to bring in a QB in every class that can compete for the starting job. I’m just saying I’m not going to sweat losing Nico or Arch because in my opinion Bama already has the next great one on campus.

With the way guys are transferring and all that is changing with college football, I wouldn't mind getting one of them each class. I was leaning towards Nico myself in the quarterback sweepstakes for this class. We've seen a couple of times how we can get down to one or two running backs, so it can happen with the quarterbacks too with the way things are transfer wise.

(BTW, this is the player rumored to be commanding an eight million dollar NIL deal.)

That’s a whole lot of money for anyone but especially for a 16/17 year old high school Junior to already have in his sights. I get that I’m considered out of touch for saying it but I still believe NIL along with the portal will ruin the college game I’ve loved for almost all of my many, many years.

I'm not trying to be funny.. We don't know what they have until they come to campus to prove themselves.

I read a lot of boards and hear similar things with Georgia and Texas out front. Georgia is saying he will commit to them in May. Along with that, his name recognition will bring a few top notch skill players.

Agreed … which is why I said ā€œin my opinionā€. If we use your standard we’d limit a whole lot the recruiting talk as we won’t know if we’re right or wrong until they prove themselves while on campus. That’s absolutely true but it’s not much fun for off-season discussion purposes.

So, in my previous post, I based my opinion on the fact I’ve seen Ty play several times in person and he was head and shoulders above any other high schoolers I’ve seen play QB in a long time. Like most Bama fans, I also have viewed his highlight videos and have read his recruiting evaluations … but most of all, I know Coach Saban really wanted him and he’s been pretty good at evaluating QB’s over the past several cycles.
Anyway, as I said, I’m not going to worry about the QB position in the 2023 class until I see if Ty proves me wrong. By then, it’d be too late anyway.

Personally, with the 2023 class, I’m more concerned with the defensive recruits and how those recruiting battles will turn out.

It does seem some worry about recruiting....in Nick Sabans era....
Seems a waste of time.... a lot get great recruits....nick gets and develops or puts them on the road....
kinda like worrying who wins Aday?.crimson or white

You're echoing what a lot have said about seeing him in high school. There are two things we know today:

He's "checked off all the boxes" in what they were looking for in high school.
He's "checked off all the boxes" in practices so far filling what was expected of him.

All that's left is time under the spotlights.

I'm not making a comparison between the two guys in terms of skill; this is just an example. We didn't know until the first two possessions against USC in '16 whether Blake Barnett could handle the spotlight.

Hey now, Hurts was 1-1 for -1 yard and had a fumble in his first 2 possessions of the same game. What did you learn from his first 2 possessions? Both had average field position of their 2 drives of the 30 yard line. Blake had the better 2 possessions, hands down.

I hope Milroe will stick for another year but I will not be surprised if he leaves after A-Day. It's just a different college game now and having 3 good QB's on your roster is going to be hard to do.

I agree. A tough situation for him. Gah lee, he has the perfect build and skills to be a solid quarterback, he just so happened to come right behind a Heisman quarterback. He reminds me a lot of Deshaun Watson, but more muscular. Would hate losing him, but really want to see what he can do running an offense as well.
