🏈 Tennessee Claiming More Wins Than 'Bama

Tennessee is suddenly ahead of 'Bama in all-time wins? Not according to my references. But, Mr. SEC.com is saying it is so.

http://mrsec.com/story/a-new-team-on-top-in-sec-football-history

They say that Tennessee has 784 wins.

I, and many other sources, say Tennessee has 776 wins.

All these sources:

http://www.tnriver.com/utvols/fbCoachesWL.htm

http://www.secsportsfan.com/top-all-time-college-football-conference-record.html
(you must add the 'Billy's 5 wins this season and their 7 losses. It adds
up to, once again, the same stats I have listed.)

say Tn. has 776 wins.

So far, I have yet to find one source that lists TN. as having 784 wins.

Does anyone know why this number 784 for Tennessee is floating around now. As of right now, all I know is that it is because some TN. fans are saying it is 784.

I am assuming that the guy who posted this is counting BAMA's vacated wins already (I didn't bother hitting the link)?

Sad, really.

Right, 'Bama's vacated wins are being calculated. That part is correct with 'Bama now, or soon to be, at 778 wins. We were at 799 before the subtraction of 21.

The problem I have is the listing of Tennessee at 784 wins. Every source I can find has TN. listed at 776 wins, still two behind us even with the vacated wins factored in.

Unfortunately, hardly any teams have their total win-loss record featured on their websites. If you want to know how many games your team has won or lost you have to go everywhere but your own team's website to find the info.

I think some Tennessee folks have been living in a make believe world. Perhaps they feel if they repeat these stats enough they will become reality.

The man with the plan, John dreamed up MrSEC.com and somehow convinced the rest of this awesome crew to take part. He’ll be the guy bringing you every story from across the SEC every day, which, admittedly, sounded easier back in the planning stages. John’s a 7-time Emmy Award winner and produces and hosts The Sports Source, a TV show that can be watched on the Tennessee page of this here website. (There was no real reason to mention the Emmys other than the fact that John’s ego is the size of Utah. Not true, it’s really more the size of Rhode Island.) Contact him at john@mrsec.com.

Hmmm, seems like a 7 time major, major, award winner would know better than to draw up elaborate graphs depicting Tennessee as the overall leader in the sEC based on falsehoods.

Thanks for the email addy; I may drop him a line.
