🏀 T. Mitchell done for season. Green returns to practice.

Mitchell is only a junior. The question that needs answering? Is Mitchell planning on, or allowed, to return for his senior season?

It will surprise me if he every takes the court for an Alabama game again. Whether it's his decision or Grant's we may never find out.

Coach Grant doews keep these things very private, but at this point I think there is still a slight chance that Mitchell will be back for his senior year. Of course he may not want to, as some form of pro ball will be beckoning to him.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I believe even if CAG decides he will allow him to come back, I don't think he will. I think he'll go pro.

It'll free up a scholly. With Walker visiting the past weekend he very well may have made the decision to move on...

Begs the question. Was all the "Roll Tide 'til I die" tweets just a public face in a hope Grant would let him back on the hardwood?

It looks like we will have two schollies to offer instead of one now. It makes you realize just how young we are. If everyone who is eligible to return next year does so (besides TM) we will also only have two for next year.We are battling Stansbury for Devonta Pollard now. If CMG were still here I'd write the kid off, but Grant recruits like he wants his team to play defense: relentlessly. We may get him.I can't remember saying this since Wimp's days, but there are no urgent recruiting needs. A power forward would be nice, but we could get along with a Jacobs/Cooper combo there if we had to.

When I heard Chris was on campus this weekend my first response was "really?!?!" Immediately I thought that Mitchell was likely done. I'd love to have Chris and Rashawn in the next class!

You know, it's funny in a way Howard. We heard complaint after complaint about not defending the perimeter under MG. Now, it's the lack of a post presence people are bitching about.

I'd like to see some improvement with Engstrom on the mid-range jumper. If we can get that...the loss of the aforementioned two won't be much of a loss. It's that range where we'll miss Green the most as this season winds to a close.

It seems like Engstrom is better every time he goes on the court. I really liked the play where he had the ball with is back to the basket, felt the defender on his right hipand wheeled to his left for a nice driving lay up. Gouye has a nice touch, just needs to quit putting the ball on the floor when he has his back to the basket. That two headed monster will be fun to watch over the next two years. Now if Jacobs will develop a face up game we will be dominant in the low blocks.

I guess at this point this news was expected. I wasn't thinking we'd beat Arky even with Green.

Hopefully State flops down the stretch, misses the tourney, and then fires Stansbury. I'd like our chances with Pollard a lot better in that scenario. Although with our luck even if we land him he'll suddenly stop being able to shoot.

I'm definitely in the camp that thinks we need a big in this class.

It will definitely be interesting to see how Arkansas plays. That home drubbing by Floria killed their hope for an at large bid. Will they be ready to play or will they be down.

These numbers are off the top of my head so forgive a point or two. :lance:

Florida scored 98 points against the 'Backs that night. Out of those 98, between 75 and 80 of those came from guard play; Walker, Beal, and...can't remember his name.

We are going to HAVE to have outstanding guard play if we have a chance on beating Arkansas. UF hit over 50% from beyond the arc. Can we? No, I doubt it.

But, if we can get some solid play from our PG and SG positions we've got a good chance to pull a road upset here. Outside of Steele and Trevor, that's a lot of youth we'll be counting on.

Terry, I largely agree, but a big reason that Florida got all those open looks is that Arkansas has no real inside presence. Every time the ball went to Young Arkansas had to give guard help, and a kick to the perimeter led to an open look. We do have to take good care of the basketball, and play well enough on the perimeter that they have to think about the double team. We don't have Young, but we do have some wide bodies that they can't defend in the low post without help. If our bigs can find the open man when the double comes we will have a great shot at beating them. It doesn't necessarily have to be a three, but we do need to hit when we get the open looks.
