šŸˆ Synder says Auburn Stole Signals

"Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher made the same claims against Auburn after January's BCS National Championship Game win, as the Seminoles reportedly used towels to block some of their signals."

Wow, I never heard about this.

My background is more in the realm of baseball when it comes to signs. I think it is up to the team signing in the play to prevent the sign from being stolen. In baseball you are free to steal signs, but at your own peril. What is the difference between stealing a sign and observing from a lineman's stance whether the play will be a run or a pass or what direction the play is going.

What's the big deal? Stealing signals made them drop passes and miss 3 field goals? KS had their opportunities and failed miserably. I would have thought Coach Snyder would have been above that kind of statement.

I have to agree .. Kansas State had that game by at least 10 points (that horrible dropped TD/INT, the 3 missed FGs, etc.). That was their game to lose, stolen signals or not. I mean, for a team that was supposedly stealing signals, AU certainly didn't dominate KSU by any means.

Maybe I am old school, but I played baseball for a while and we were taught to make the signs hard to pick up. Perhaps Kansas State's signs were too easy? Not defending AU by any means though.

I'm with the baseball logic too. If you're dumb enough not to switch it up, cover them up, you're just asking to get figured out. I think it's pretty intelligent if you're able to figure another team's signs and use them against them.

It would (and should) only be an issue if they "stole" the signals in some unethical way (illegal practice video, unauthorized copies of play books, etc). If they "deciphered" signals on their own without help, then it isn't an issue. KSU should do a better job with their signals.

I think the problem with auburn is, there always seems to be a dark cloud of weirdness that hangs over them... such as the Arky asst. coaches getting stuck in the elevator and halftime, accusations that auburn listens in on opposing coaches headsets, etc.

I remember that, thought it was hilarious. It was the same as Ole Miss' claims against Alabama last year. I believe Dameyune Craig had previously been the QB coach at FSU and they claimed that Craig was stealing FSU's signs during the NC game. That is hilarious to me, you mean to tell me that over a year later you hadnt changed the signs? Especially the month leading up to that game knowing a former coach was on the staff at AU? Thats your fault for being stupid.

Yup, noticed in the game they were trying to conceal their calls. I need to listen to his comments to get the context of how he said it, sounds like sour grapes but I don't believe he'd go this direction.

Too bad that can't be used as a reason for missing FG's.

Seriously, is anyone shocked they'd do something questionable...

And here's another thing (change of subject a little, but I digress)... If you're team is holding up poster boards with pictures on it constantly throughout the game to call your plays (of like the Apple logo, a horse, Mr. T, and SpongeBob), then there is little doubt that your team runs a clown offense*.

*Clown offense doesn't mean it isn't successful. Clowns are sometimes successful.

Stealing signs are a part of sports. Nothing wrong with it as Brandon said unless you do it in an unethical way. Snyder should be more concerned that his team did not make the most of the opportunities they had last night. K St. Should have won the game.

Tomorrow morning I'll listen to his post game presser, gonna play some Destiny on the PS4 for a bit :)

"They're getting our signals, we've gotta do a better job disguising them." -- Don't know about you guys, but this sounds about what I expected. I didn't catch this in the game as I was watching my boy Julio get 31.7 points for my fantasy football team (flipping between Falcons and this game).

Honestly, all teams will take signs from the other team if they can get them. But it seems like Auburn under Malzahn is actively trying to find ways to steal them. It is kind of the difference between me seeing you drop $20 and picking it up and keeping it, and me following you around waiting for you to not pay attention to your $20 so I can take it.

You're hitting on a point I want to make.

Auburn is holding their formation signs, etc., up in the freakin' air, on large poster board!! Learn their signals!

This has been going on for years. I remember a famous HS coach Wright Bazemore knew another team had deciphered their sideline signals for a state championship game. This was in the 1960s. They just used a counter set of the same signals with different plays. The other team made 1 first down the whole night.
