It was an overcast, chilly afternoon at the University of Alabama, as the Crimson Tide underwent a Saturday practice outside. Here is what I saw during the limited viewing period.
No surprise, but Geno Smith was not at practice after his arrest for DUI on Saturday morning. At last check, he still hadn't posted bail.
Cam Robinson was back with the linemen going through drills a day after riding a bike during practice as he continued to heal from a sprained ankle. Cyrus Jones and Denzel Devall remained on the bike Saturday.
I witnessed a good interaction between Rashaan Evans and assistant coach Tosh Lupoi. Evans asked a question about a drill and Lupoi jumped into the drill and showed him how to run it firsthand. Lupoi brings a high energy and communicates well so that the players understand. This particular drill was about taking on a block and keeping outside leverage. The players seem to really respond to Lupoi.
C.J. Mosely was at practice, as was Dre Kirkpatrick. I also spotted Leigh Tiffin.
Alabama returns to practice Monday.
