🏈 Still not understanding why Julio is not touching the ball more...

i havent seen him drop many easy ones becand grits yea a couple but but everyone does and alot of his drops he has been because the ball is thrown behind him like in the south carolina game not making excuses still a drop but tough catches not saying we force the ball to him but he should get some touches there are ways.
Do you know what a period is? Jeezus.:fight:

I'm curious what your answer or suggestion to this "problem" some of you think we have.

As mentioned, I could care less if it were Big Al catching the ball. Just get it to the guy who's open and can make a play.

And yes Julio has dropped passes this year that he should of caught. Remember how last year he was able to have catches in almost impossible angles and scenarios? Remember he did all that with a supposed wrist injury (IIRC)? He had surgery off season on his shoulder too (IIRC). To me, he hasn't looked like the same Julio as last year. You can see on some of the passes that he misses that he is frustrated and knows he should of caught them. Not sure what is bothering Julio this season but something is not the same.

I'm not dogging on Julio as I love him as much as the next Bama fan but I don't see what the hangup is with focusing on Julio so much as some of the other fans and media see in it. He is an awesome player and is a hell of a threat and I'd love to get him the ball more but what else is there to do that hasn't been done? We've thrown to him when he's open. We've throw to him for pretty much an entire game. We've thrown to him in double and triple coverage. The only times i've seen him have some bad passes his way was from the last game or so. Most of the season the passes have been or what should of been easy catches for Julio but he can't seem to bring them in like last year.

At any rate there is more to being a WR in this day of football than just running a route and catching the ball. He's been an asset to this team just by his presense on the field. I'm also glad to see him actually doing some decent blocks this year than how he was attempting to do them last year.

I am glad he is blocking as well. I was simply stating he is a weapon that is not being used. Yes he has dropped passes. Definitely not 15 like one of you mentioned. He still deserves touches. When he received the punts he showed what he can do when he has the ball. I have seen Peek drop more than a few passes but he still gets his touches. What about WR screens? They never seem to run those. I have seen maybe one or two of them all year.

I also would like to see more WR screens but Ingram is a better runner than Julio IMHO. I'd love to see Julio get a handoff on the wildcat formation because everyone will be expecting it to be a fake and for Ingram to run it. Just watch the SC game for proof. It's not a matter of him "deserving" more catches or looks. He's had his share. I believe one guy called in today and said that there were 6 players on the team that all have received 30+ passes/receptions this year. That is a considerable number and threat to any opposing team to prepare for. The way I see it, the more weapons the better. It forces defense to play honest. When they do that, lookout! Because when Julio is on single coverage his chances are much greater for success both in looks and in catches. Give it time. This team is something special and it will all work out in the end.

Exactly. He got hurt earlier in the year on a trick play and I don't know if he's 100% even today.

He could easily get hurt running a route too. He could get hurt walking to class as well. Heck he could also have a frweak occurance happen on a pass like Prothro.

Whether it's a "trick play" (I call them wrinkles) or him blocking for a run play, he stands the chance of getting hurt.

The point being this is just the nature of football. It ain't for everybody but I'm sure anyone on our team knows the risks and wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm still waiting for the little slip screen from the Wildcat formation. Ingram does a "Tebow-Step" and tosses it out side to Julio. The more we just run the ball in the Wildcat formation, the more devastating it will be when we actually do something different out of it.

FWIW, we don't have a receiver over twenty on the entire team.

Side note: We had 195 for the team last year, sitting at 113 right now.

In my opinion, it's a result of three things: We are really underused Julio's abilities into the open-field, he's dropping some catches that he didn't last year and there's a lot of anxiety to put the ball on his hands (see Ole Miss week). We have to fix badly some things in the passing-game and I'm sure Julio will get back to get opportunities for making plays...
