šŸ“ ā ⭐⭐⭐ OL, Olaus Alinen (6'6", 315lbs) commits to Alabama

I assume @TerryP was referring to Arch being a "big fish in a very small pond" classification. Some have even said that Arch would only be rated a 3* if not for the last name.
I saw someone make a remark about the teams Arch has faced referring to the number of players on that opposing teams roster. I can't recall the exact numbers but do remember the disparity was a lot like how many scholly's found on a FCS roster vs FBS—several "strings" of depth. There was no doubt there were some two-way players but there you found it at most positions; not just skill.

It's not a knock on Arch, but level of competition played deserves notice (especially with his playoff appearances/numbers.)

I don’t recall him in any skills competitions/showcase venues. He did skip elite 11. His recruitment seemed more of debutante ball complete with 24/7 helicopter news. I’m glad all of the potential ā€œrat poisonā€ went with him to Texass.

Mike Farrell’s adamant Arch would be a 3 Star if he wasn’t a Manning. Not saying he’s right but that’s a really bold statement to make. He could have said a he’s 4 Star that’s the fourth best QB in the class or something to hedge his bet but he didn’t. He talked about having watched Arch play and work out several times over the years but he just hasn’t seen any progression since his Freshman year. Like you, Farrell also mentioned how bad he’s looked the few times he’s played against better competition. I can only imagine how much pressure he’s under because of his name but he’ll make a good deal of NIL money because of that name whether he pans out or not.

The ironic thing here is the same can be said for Farrell and that's why he's sticking his neck out.

ESPN just put USC’s Nelson ahead of Manning. I think a number of recruiting analysts are starting to question the level of competition he’s faced and at the same time they’re seeing other QB’s participate at elite level events that Arch isn’t.

He was all over Arch's you know what's, like everyone else, last year with that "viral" video of him throwing at Clemson. He's been on both sides of it and I think he's testing the waters. This is his shot to stand out from the crowd, though there were plenty of us saying this last year, when he was still high on him. I just don't believe the whole "he hasn't progressed since he was a Freshman" comments from him, because I know there are blurbs of him saying the opposite at Rivals.
