Stanford drops 11 sports to cut costs during pandemic
For years Stanford has "won" the NACDA Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup. The cup gives points for the finish ranking of each sport. Since Stanford has sponsored 36 sports, they have an unfair advantage over other schools that sponsor fewer sports (Alabama has 15 intercollegiate sports teams). Even with this reduction, they'll probably "win" it again with "only" 25 sports.
