Spurrier was quoted the other day as saying, “He(Saban) is one of the best recruiters in the country. That's why he's one of the best coaches. I'd put him in the top four or five coaches in the country. He and his staff do very well. They're very sound.”<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Someone on another board said that was a sideways swipe at Saban. They seemed to think Spurrier indicated Saban just can recruit well and wins on talent for the mist part…….It is hard to know what exactly Spurrier might have meant by that. He seems to speak in pig-Latin code sometimes, but he obviously respects Saban.

Offense: Speaking of Bama's offense, I believe this is the most aggressive offense I have ever seen Saban run. The offenses he had at LSU were very vanilla. Most defensive minded coaches seem to run conservative offenses for some reason. It seems to be their nature……That is one reason some of the offensive play-calls this year have had me scratching my head. It seems to go against everything he has done in the past with smash-mouth. We seem to be getting cute sometimes when we need to just get down to basics. I wonder if some of this will come back to bite us when we need the tough yards on the goal-line.

I love opening up the playbook in the middle of the field. However, once inside the 10 I think it is time to employ the big fellas and impose your will on a defense. I am interested to see if that isnt what we do this week. I just have a feeling that we will see more determined running in the red zone.
