@JoseyWalesTheOutlaw, This isn't documented but I believe it's a fair guess to say the view Costas had/has on gun control mirrors that of NBC's. His diatribe during that half time would have been perfect content for Dateline. There were accusations of racism surrounding those comments as well. He, much like we've seen Urban the last few weeks, dug his grave a little deeper when he tried to clarify what he was saying Sunday by stating Tuesday "...those people taking shots at me. Err. Poor choice of words there." Costas even admitted that there were people who agreed with him 100% but also felt it wasn't the right place or time.

Oops. There's both sides of a political aisle upset about this subject again. Or shall I say this story is the "again."

The Olympics were a bit of a different matter. Human rights issues are no joke. Putin's record with these violations are documented as well. It left us with this. As bad as TV coverage already is for the Olympics as we find ourselves watching the US Hockey team play at 2AM in the morning--and that might be a replay--people didn't want to see a weeks worth of coverage on an interview with Putin about gay rights. These two didn't mix either.

If I crave politics I turn the channel and seek it on other venues. I do like to hear both sides, but If I am wanting me some sports I turn to SEC, ESPN, ESPNU, the golf channel or do a search online. When I hear a sports talker or celebrity start down the road of politics I turn the channel. Don't want to hear any sports talking head or celebrity invading my sports time. I go to church to hear about my religion not some other religion. I believe eventually the bean counters will correct the sports channels when they start to loose listeners. I think SEC gets it more right than ESPN but I stopped listening to other shows a couple of years ago.

The issue about kneeling or standing should have never been blown up like it has but this is the United States of America and our freedom of speech lets us blow away. Opinions are just like A$$holes. We all have one but we think others stink worse than our own. ESPN had major layoffs last year because of loosing listeners. I think they smelled their own pile of crap and is starting to change it. We will see.

Just a brief update on the state of the NFL. Look, mom, no anthem. Isn't it interesting that the networks are getting away from publicly making a spectacle of the anthem, for and against? The owners had a knee-jerk reaction to the Potus and it looks like it's finally losing steam. The NFL has just decided to look the other way as players make their choice, which was pretty much their position when this whole thing started. And guess what? The NFL ratings are trending up.

i'm looking at it from a business perspective. it makes no sense to bring politics into sports as an orchestrated scheme by your hosts. it makes no more sense than me showing up at a mixed crowd Christmas party in a MAGA hat. Even if I love the Donald, that's generally in poor taste and invites conversations not relevant to a Christmas celebration and potentially adversarial in nature. This is what ESPN has done. Kudos to them for even being able to admit it.

You have to understand that the liberal point of view is correct and you must change your view. That is the liberal DNA and it is documented.

Oh wtf ever. You just described 90% of conservatives I know. That is an American problem, not conservative or liberal. Guaranteed you are one of them, too.
