🏈 Sporting News - Ranking top defensive units in college football

1. Alabama. Never let it be said that defensive guru Nick Saban can't identify talent. Alabama's coach recruited All-American Rolando McClain in his first year, then landed rising star Dont'a Hightower in Year 2. Next up: Nico Johnson, an incoming five-star freshman.

Not one of my favorite people by any imagination...but, credit goes to Chris Ball for landing Ro. Saban hadn't even begun his last year in Miami when Ro committed.

I do love our linebackers but I don't think they are the best in the nation.

And, UT in the top five for their secondary?

Please. Hell, one of their starting cornerbacks didn't do a damn thing last year and you have some secondaries that return all of their starters.

UT is getting their love because of Eric Berry. Period.

For Va. Tech's secondary not to be ranked shocks the hell out of me.

I'm not sure why Ole Miss gets all that love on the DL. They did lose a first round draft pick out of the middle of that front. I'll take our group, talent wise and depth wise over theirs.

Hardy, Laurent and Tillman make a pretty strong front line...Lockett is a player in his own right as well.
