The SEC is expected to vote on intraconference transfers today.
A few of the concerns mentioned over the last few weeks are expected to be addressed as well: deadlines for transfers is probably the biggest thing I've seen mentioned.
The Southeastern Conference announced it will allow immediate eligibility for intraconference transfers following a vote today by the SEC's Presidents and Chancellors.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.(June 3, 2021) - The Southeastern Conference announced it will allow immediate eligibility for intraconference transfers following a vote today by the SEC's Presidents and Chancellors.
The change in policy, which takes effect immediately, will better align with NCAA legislation adopted in April 2021 that established a universal one-time transfer opportunity applicable to student-athletes across all sports.
As a result of the SEC's new policy, student-athletes who transfer directly within the Conference will no longer be required to serve an automatic year in residence at their new school before being eligible for competition.
"This is an important measure to further support student-athletes throughout the Southeastern Conference," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. "While maintaining the expectation that coaches and others avoid improper recruiting, this change will ensure that student-athletes who enroll at an SEC member institution will enjoy the flexibility afforded to other student-athletes across the nation."
It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out for Bama. Being able to fill a gap can be useful but how many 2nd team guys will we lose. Nick is one of the best if not the best at roster management so lets see how he does.
That Feb 1 (each year) deadline for football players that plan to transfer should help with some of the confusion.

The long-awaited change in college sports became official on Wednesday

Athletes in fall/winter sports like, football and basketball, would face a May 1 deadline to enter the transfer portal. Spring athletes would have a July 1 deadline in order to gain immediate eligibility. However, the council voted to allow a blanket waiver for this year only that sets the date for all athletes as July 1.
Based on this July 1st of this year would be the drop dead date for a transfer? Aight.
Not me ... at least not on that subject. I personally did not like the way some programs/coaches abused the scholarship rules back then. They would recruit a slew of guys then later run players off who didnāt quite live up to expectations. Of course, Coach Bryant was tarred with that same charge too primarily by GT people but the facts concerning Coach Bryant and Bama proved it baseless.
I liked the rule that allowed players to play in no more than 4 games and still be able to redshirt. I wish they would update that rule where the Bowl game or playoff's don't count against the 4 during the regular season.
This info is from the Phil Marshall thread and it explains the deadline for inter conference transfers within the SEC and the different dates used by the SEC vs the NCAA.
HOW SIGNIFICANT IS THE SECāS DECISION TO ALLOW ONE-TIME INTRALEAGUE TRANSFERS WITHOUT PENALTY?
My answer: Very significant, but not the least bit surprising. The SEC had no choice. An interesting part of the decision was players who want to transfer within the league and be immediately eligible must make that known by Feb. 1 of each year. The NCAA policyās date is May 1, but conferences are free to make their own rules about intraconference transfers. SEC players will have to make quick decisions. The Feb. 1 date will allow coaches to more efficiently manage their rosters.
