🏈 Some: A team should play a certain number of games to make the CFBP. Some: The playoffs need to be the best four teams in the nation.

Which leads me to Ohio State.

I'm curious as to which teams around the nation you think would beat Ohio State this season other than the three obvious: UA, CU, and ND. And personally, I don't think Notre Dame would have a chance to beat Ohio State.

If you're in the wheelhouse of "the best four" for the Final Four, and we look around and fail finding teams who are better than the Buckeyes, if they only play five games this season but are one of those four...how do you leave them out?

FWIW, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the whole thing. I know what I'm thinking.

If I were a coach of a team who'd just been through a 10 game season and I'm looking at playing a team who has been off for a month, or just had a couple of games in two months, I'm licking my chops. As the saying goes, "there's rust to knock off" and that kind of disparity leads me to think that "rust" has eaten through the body in a few areas.

To be the best, you must beat the best!

I want the four best teams. It can be a little difficult who those best are without some competition as a gauge but I haven't seen anyone close to those four you listed plus A&M and UF. I want 'Bama to get through them all because it eliminates that asterisk season as well.

The other side to that coin is the fact that CU has gone through an 11 game schedule and Bama 10 games in the SEC. We have already lost Waddle to injury and we have no idea how many are nicked up and not quite 100% from the physicality of playing more/less a full gambit of games. That plays into OSU's hand because of only playing 5 games in a year where the BIG 10 absolutely sucks. (more so than other years).........I don't think OSU has earned it by any means........but I do like the idea of playing a team that has no idea how to handle adversity because they haven't been tested.

well. How about adding Florida into that mix....
But its hard to say one will beat another l..
You know "the any given Saturday thing"

osu couldnt stay up with Florida.... my thought..

AnM can be really good...or not...

But as @rammerjammer points out....play fewer. Less chance to injury...

i am also-not sold either way ... but big 10 isnt much more than ACC...top to bottom

Here i am .... Florida beats bama...clemson beat ND.... and have osu...@5-0 or 6-0
Who do not make it to CFP?

Athlete to athlete their standing even. Day vs Mullen is a hands down, no contest win for the Buckeyes. I believe that's pretty easy to see.

A&M are exactly what they have been. Inconsistent. While they are winning, against whom is the elephant in the room.

This right here, against LSU, is horrible play. CFB Stats, a site I trust much more than ESPN's QBR**, has Mond at 58.29

CFP job as I understand it is to get the 4 best teams. I would be hard press to not think OSU would be one of them based on what I have seen. A&M is not it. I personally believe ND is the weaker of the 4. So that leaves maybe a comparison with UF. We will see what that looks like when they play bama (assuming something insane does not occur).

@TerryP

Dont know osu could keep pace with Florida.... my opinion...
If they should beat Bama ( remember, best team doesnt always win)... both should get in...if bama wins....the door is open for osu ( even without winning big 10 but staying undefeated...)
Wasnt really loving all over AnM...but the should finish with 1 loss ....9-1 in SECw is pretty good... but Mond is so inconsistent....

saying that....
Bama beats Florida...
Nd beats Clemson...
Osu wins out...who is ur #4?

Assuming aTm wins out and your scenario above, I think aTm. FL and Clemson would both have two losses. Cincy might have a case for four.

Bama, ND, OSU, aTm.

Either Cincy or A&M right now...too many games left with that hypothetical. I won't be surprised if A&M is out of the conversation this weekend.
You got the offensive juggernaut AUover AnM?....
I dont know...AU injuries are really hurting them....
AnM really looked poor sat vs lsu.... really outta sorts...
Would be good to see cincy n byu play a game vs each other...

I agree with Rammer Jammer that not playing as many games means not as beat up. Also, I believe that it should be the 4 best teams, but that label has to be proven on the field. 4 games is not enough of a resume to say Ohio St is among the 4 best. I think the 4 best teams are UA, CU, ND, and Florida. I believe Florida could beat Ohio State because OSU defense is pitiful this year. Regardless of the outcome of the SEC title game, I still say Florida is one of the 4 best, and they have proven it on the field.

It's in Auburn. It's Mond. It's Jimbo. It's history.

And BTW, @It Takes Eleven , let's not set aside Indiana here. A win as a dog against Wisconsin will earn them favors.

indiana...ummmmm
Might be right there.... see where they end up tuesday on CFP selection
And northwestern..... another 1 loss

AnM.... didnt they go a long time without winning at home....( history)....
But would love to see AnM sock it to em...and
AU closeout with loss at msu...

no..wait...i want Gus to stay...gotta beat msu

They had the IU-MD game on at Central Mesa Saturday. Taulia was not on, at all, probably should've had more than three picks, and he was muscling up on some short passes that his receivers couldn't handle. IU was unimpressive on offense, I agree their D had some to do with Taulia's bad day. I just don't see IU in the conversation.

On a different note, slightly, if IU makes it through these next two weeks they'll have finished the season uninterrupted. They're one of three in the B1G.

I believe UofSC and UK are the only two who haven't had a game canceled/postponed in the SEC.

lol....Kentucky should have....they deserve some award....for playing when they have been decimated with problems....
The first half vs Florida...they did well...until final seconds
