One way to ensure that some of this ridiculous spending by some boosters is deflated (to a degree) is to see that it isn't rewarded with national championships.
Great job by the umpire. I absolutely hate those umpires where "the ball beat him there" and he's immediately out. Or ones where a kid gets tagged at the bag, on the hip or leg sliding head first and he's called out. Well, he has a whole other upper half to his body that is on the bag. Anyways, good for this ump, and nice slide by the player.
I've rooted for OU twice now in the WCWS... against auburn in the finals and tonight against Tech. They are 2-2 in those games... and I think all were very close.
Hits on 0-2 counts drive me crazy. I might give up a hit to every batter I faced but NONE of them would be on an 0-2 count. I would roll the ball up to the plate before I let that happen.
Oklahoma's run of four straight Women's College World Series titles ended when Lauren Allred's walk-off sacrifice fly gave Texas Tech a 3-2 victory in the semifinals Monday night.
Watch the entire seventh inning from the 2025 Women's College World Series semifinals, where NiJaree Canady and Texas Tech softball clashed with four-time defending champion Oklahoma in an exciting finish.
Canady dominating the game!!! Bottom of the 6th 2 outs 2 on. They are intentionally walking Texas hitter. She lets a couple get close to the strike zone. On 3/0 pitch she floats one close to the strike zone, and the hitter hits a 2 run single to take the lead 2-1!!!!!
You can’t make this stuff up!!!!!
And this Texas tech head coach is a deer in the headlights!!!! Canady dominated this game. He out coached himself with the intentional walk (which Canady has never done).
Now in the top of the 7th he has pinch hit for his catcher with a freshman that struck out looking. He’s already pinch hit or ran for her earlier in the game. So she’s burned. If tech can tie or take the lead they’ll have to play a catcher with no experience. He’s just there to not screw up the big $$$$ roster he’s been gifted. Sheesh!!!!
You could see that intentional walk swing/hit coming from a mile away... my boy Will Clark swung at an intentional walk pitch once years ago... flied out to LF warning track... but also took it deep. Happens every once and a while... or did, before the damn auto walks were instituted.

I got a message last night saying they are already offering kids for next season: not as much as their current pitcher but still several in six figures. According to him, a lot of those "offers" are to players who aren't in the portal yet. I don't know if it's true but I don't have many doubts.

I guess we can call this verification. I have a friend who is my "Auburn guy" when I'm looking for news and he is one of the Admin's on the medical school side of TTU. (Ironically, I met him on an LSU forum over 20 years ago and we've developed a pretty good friendship over the years even though I've never met him face to face. We've talked 100's of times.)
His comment yesterday afternoon? John Sellers is spending money again. That makes the third person who has said something like this; he's the first to name the guy (though I think it's not a secret.) He pointed to a catcher out of the B1G as one (I think he said OSU...deleted the text.)
