This past year bama was outbid on a particular pitcher in the portal. Couldn’t match $$$.
Not a lot of development in my opinion. Bama is still in better shape than most programs, but holding on to and developing certain players has been the issue.

FWIW, it wasn't just a pitcher. But in Bama's defense, and it's the same in the other sports, in some of these cases it becomes irresponsible on the part of UA to promise more "guaranteed" money than is deserved (or market value if you look at it like that). It's a rare occasion they are going to even do it for football... even rarer for basketball. Baseball and softball? Go fish.

Oh I agree, and yeah I just heard they felt pretty good about one of the pitchers in particular. Not sure which one. Yeah they won’t guarantee $$$ they can’t deliver on.

When they were getting run-ruled in Norman I remember thinking "I wish her hitting matched her pitching" as she was getting rocked those first two innings. Then it dawned on me, "wait. When has she been batting?" I dismissed the thought and kept listening.

Now I've got one of the "hrmph" grunt things goin' ...
 
Strangely enough, Girls flag football translates to softball. I know 4-5 girls that played flag football at the high school level, they all just graduated. They were by far the best softball players in the school. One was the qb (my buddies daughter) and one was uncoverable (I know that’s not a word) with great hands. Those 2 were legit d-1 softball talents.. None played softball, because the softball coach said they couldn’t play both, they needed to make a choice. The flag coach encouraged them to play both or commit to play softball(better opportunities), but they all got pissed at the softball coach and said screw it. Long story short, softball team sucked, flag team played for a state championship.
