⚾ 🥎 🥎 Opening Weekend leaves the Tide at 4-0 following DH sweep of Louisville.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama softball posted its second-straight run rule victory to start the 2021 season Saturday night, blanking Notre Dame, 10-0.

Alabama (2-0) and Notre Dame (1-1) were scoreless over the first two innings before the Crimson Tide tallied a pair in the top of the third. Alabama broke things open with an eight-run fifth, giving the Tide enough cushion to throw a scoreless bottom half and come away with a run-rule victory, its second in as many days.

Alexis Mack was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs, batting second. Bailey Dowling and Bailey Hemphill also turned in multi-hit performances, with Dowling driving in Alabama's first run of the day. Claire Jenkins had a team-leading three RBIs, coming on a three-run double that spurred the eight-run fifth inning. The bullpen had another strong outing, with Lexi Kilfoyl throwing 4.0 shutout innings with just two hits allowed and six strikeouts while freshman Jaala Torrence made her Tide debut with a scoreless fifth inning.

Happy these gals finally got on the field to play. My question is were these teams any good or was this fully expected? I was really looking forward to Texas and Arizona as matchups we don't normally see, but know both programs have a rich history.

The ladies see these matchups every year. Last season it was against the #1, #2, #9, #16 teams, as well as #7 Arizona. Bama played Arizona in 2019 as well.
