🏈 So how did we look?

Tracked the first quarter on my phone, and passed out. Couldn't make it past 2 am.

Woke up to see a nice 35-17 win .. RTR.

Anyone care to tell me how we actually looked? How was Coker? What's the offense look like? Was the D as sick as we thought? Us the secondary better? Did o-line play improve (2 sacks in first quarter)?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!!

One of the commentators during the Ole Miss vs UT Martin game said "every question we had about the Rebels has been answered."

One game. One.

It's the first game of the season and much like last year perception doesn't always match reality: with any team.

I will say that there were some good and bad from this game just as you would expect from an opening game. Jake looked very nervous the first few drives but he seemed to settle down somewhat and play well overall. He did appear to look to Lane a lot for calls but I think that is just the way Lane runs the offense so that is not a knock on Jake (imo). The few deep balls he threw did not look good but I can't say it is going to be a problem down the road, first game jitters perhaps. Derrick Henry looked great, running over people and his speed is sweet. The receivers need time I think before we will know but Robert Foster looked good and Ar'Darius Stewart showed that he has some skill. The oline did well but there were too many holding penalties and false starts.

The D line looked great! We started wearing them down and getting substantial pressure on the Quarterback by the 3rd quarter and I belive we held them to less than 40 yards rushing overall. Reggie Ragland was all over the field as expected but the secondary still looked a bit vulnerable here and there, lots of pass interference calls.

Again, first game and all so I can see us getting much much better.

Don't tell me you are also in Europe? I'd like to know what happened as well.
I'm in Germany but managed to stay up the whole way through.

Coker performed better than what I expected although he missed 2 sure TD's to Ridley and Stewart

The D looks solid against the run, we'll see how much the secondary has improved once Ole Miss comes in two weeks. The EJ and GM-S experiment still looks suspect to me. Fitz and Hump will get better as the year goes along, they need to learn how to turn their heads in coverage

Henry is gonna ball this year as long as we don't kill ourselves with stupid penalties

Again, it's only week 1 but I think we'll be okay

Wisky couldn't run and they quickly abandoned it. 20 carries for maybe 40 yards. They dinked and dunked the ball 39 times. A few bad PI calls gave them the field position to score. The kicking game was shaky! Griffith missed 2 from around 42-45 yds and Scott punted like he was in junior high!
Coker was hesitant on a few throws but played well overall. Henry=MONSTER! He had around 145-150 on 13 carries and 3 TDs.

SOS from the secondary. We couldn't defend the short pass the first half, but looked a little better the second half. SOS from the kicking team. No good punts and 2 missed FG. Coker looked slow to start but improved. It was Coker all the way until middle of the third quarter then Cooper B came on but was restricted to mainly running plays. Way too many penalties.

The good is that we have a strangling defensive front that was tested over and over and they hammered their attempts to run. Henry is a tank with a turbine. when he gets loose he is gone. They scored their last touchdown on the second and third team so the score doesn't reflect how good our defense is.

This is just my take on what I saw. Overall if we can tweak a few things like kicking, secondary, and less penalties we could hit on all cylinders and beat anybody.
