🏈 So.... Do Any Players Sit Out the Bowl Game?

I would guess anyone banged up or possibly questionable will not be playing. Everyone healthy will play the game likely I think our guys are pretty reasonable when it comes to that kind of thing. I'm not against people sitting for Bowl Games though, guess I'm in the minority around here.

It won’t bother me if some decide to sit out the bowl game. Coaches used to point out the bowl games gave the younger guys a couple of more weeks of practice time / opportunities to play. If some of the NFL prospects decide to sit out, that just helps the younger players that much more.
Having said that, I still want to win the bowl game.

I feel different about there being to many bowl games too. I love watching college football.

I guess in VN.....they should have let us sit in barracks when we started getting short ....but we were part of team....so...as team did...we did til last day...

Who on here has honestly ever said they agree with coaches leaving? I know we have talked about the difference in being a professional and a college athlete, but I still do not recall anyone being cool with a coach leaving early either.

Agreed.

My bigger point is that if the leaders aren't fully committed and sacrificing for the program, university, and their role... The followers take note.

Which is also why I pointed out what a great sign it would be if no players sat out.

I know I am in the minority but (as CNS has said) the CFB has completely removed any meaning from any of the bowl games.

Why would anyone who is looking at a position in the draft play in a game that many fans don't give .02 about.

Nothing to gain and everything to lose

This may not be popular, but in honestly I'd rather see anyone and everyone leaving for the draft sit out and we play the kids that will be the foundation for the team next year. More reps for them in quality training camp over the next month. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. Not sure how I feel about coaches being let go now instead of coaching through bowl games. What are your thoughts on that, since it's the AD making that decision.

It's trash... I've felt for a while now I think both the University and Coach should hold up their end of the bargain on the contract. I know many disagree, and I understand why, but I like the idea of fulfilling a fair agreement.

Yeah, I feel the same way. May actually save some money in the end and get away from these stupid long contracts and massive buyouts.

Spare me the sanctimonious shit...those kids have represented this University well on and off the field. Get off ur high horse. Burns me up when our own fans take shots at our guys. I got an idea sport let's tape up tuas hip and roll him out there for the "team". No the team really means the "fans" to some.

I don't know of any contracts that are not upheld. To my knowledge, there are terms for termination of the contract early by either party. As long as those terms are met, then I don't see the issue. Both parties agree to the contract as a whole, not as a part.

I understand your thought process, but just see it from a different view.

Certainly a fair point. I'm referring to the length of the contract or extension being fulfilled. Ultimately to me it's about the players having a legitimate chance to know who they're committing to leading the program. It's always good advice for the kids to commit to the school and not just the coach - But the Coach plays a huge part in the kids overall experience.

One contract that got nasty was when McElwain left CSU for Florida... Florida agreed to give them 2 home games and I believe CSU made Mac pay 7 figures back over time. Now obviously I'm sure he negotiated that into his salary at Florida, but got messy.

I would not be surprised if some of our players on offense that are going to be 1st rounders sit the bowl game out. Those guys have a lot of money they are rolling the dice to not get injured for a now, meaningless bowl game. I can’t see any defensive player sitting, IMO, they need all the practice and reps they can get.
