...from another forum. It does match word leaking out from different people around practices.
1. Barrett Jones is the starting right guard. That's who will start against VT. He is currently around 303 lbs and has been a force in practice.

2. Gmac has looked incredible. The source told me he looked every bit as fluid as jpw during last Saturdays scrimmage and then some. His two interception stats are misleading, one being a chance tip on a ball, the other on a play by BJ which he called "rediculously incredible".

3. Ingram is solid. Richarson is making huge strides in practice and will be in the rotation come game day. Lacey is coming around. Little bit of bad news on upchurch:his injury seems to be a bit more of a prpblem than reported. Said it is extemely nagging and could keep him sidelined for a bit until he is back to 100%.the big coming out party is Terry grant, who apprently has been running wild all over our 1st defense.

4. Collin peek has been used sparingly in passing routes due to his foot, but has been a train in the trenches, throwing highly aggressive blocks. The sure hands belong to smelley.

5. Julio, maze, and hanks are 123. Source says Julio is far better than last year If you can believe it, and can not be single tackled in any circumstance. Maze has made outrageous athletic plays. Norwood is in the position to rotate in. As is Bowman, but he is having trouble getting the offense down.

6. The offensive screen plays are going to be bread and butter this year and have produced huge yard gains during scrimmages. The offense will also be running a pistol formation this year, which can really result in those long Julio bombs fans love to see.

7. The listed weights for the players on the roster is misleading. Generally, everyone is heavier than listed. Everyone on the o line is over 300 lbs. Ro and donta both are 260+

8. My source says that the defense is like nothing you've ever seen before, the size and speed is staggering. Vastly improved from last year is an understatement. And to me, If our offensive "questions and concerns" can produce against that force, then bama is on pace to be pretty damn good this year. I will post again as I hear, roll tide.

If all of that is accurate, then this season is going to be a fun ride!

Let me put it this way.

Through a handful of friends I talk to a couple of times a week I've heard the same thing that guy posted, more than once.

The only thing mentioned in that post that hasn't been a point of conversations is how Terry Grant has been doing. That said, sliding him out of the backfield for a screen play would put him in a perfect position to rack up some yards.

The post mentioned we'll be running Chris Ault's "Pistol" formation some this year. One huge benefits of this formation is you can still run all your power running game, but with the added threat of all the screens (TE/WR/RB/HB) on every play and it gives the QB an extra second vs the pass rush. This is an ideal formation for a young line to gain some confidence.

Terry, you have to stop with these post. Now my work day is shot because im so giddy and anxious to get this season started!!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!

TerryP, thanks for adding the pic. It's not uncommon for teams running this formation to replace the third WR with a TE/HB/FB and line him up on the LOS or in the backfield alongside the QB.

"...Source says Julio is far better than last year If you can believe it,..."

I can believe that! I believe that he played hurt and at less than 100% last year.

One of the biggest differences is his ability to line up at the X,Y and Z position where he only lined up at one (X) last year.

It's going to give the offense such versatility...

Will Julio be the only receiver to move around like this? Or will we be able to move maze around to get him some mismatches with LB's?

The main thing is most of these players have been in the system for multiple years now. Knowing what you are doing leads to quicker play and less mistakes. Someone mentioned seeing the margin of victory increasing this year and I definitely agree with that comment.
