"I just worry about beating them now."

Is that the same thing as Petrino's lack of confidence scenario or am I reaching here? If GMac came out today and said he was "worried about beating Ole Miss" what would you think? I'm trying to think if I've ever heard one of our QB's state he's worried about beating such and such.

Just wondering why he chose those words.

Anytime I hear an obvious lack of confidence in a foe, I know we're in their heads.

It would make me sick if one of our coaches talked like Beamer did before the Bama game, or Ptetrino, or if a player talked like Snead is now.

If we play our game and execute consistently, we win. OM only has a say in the matter if we let them and they know it.

Guess you never heard Bear Bryant:lance: or you got sick before every game listening to him:headscratch:

Delta, in the context of the story, he wasn't saying he was WORRIED about beating McElroy, he stated that he is now focused on beating him in the game, vs getting his shirt back. Although, I really hope he is worried. :)

I think "worry" was probably just a poor choice of words. If I was to guess, I would say he just meant that his thought was bent on beating us. Worry = really thinking about it in his case.

Just a guess. I hope I am wrong and that he is afraid of us.

Koz, go back and read some of the pre-game comments from Beamer about how this game won't affect their season as a whole, etc.

Coach Bryant NEVER had something to say like that. Sure, he'd downplay his team and praise the opponent. Saban does the same in that respect.

But, a month before our game with VT Beamer was already talking about how a loss in ATL wouldn't be the end of their season, they still could compete for the ACC title, etc. It happened several times.

Huge difference between the two coaches...HUGE.

In the story Snead says of his competition with McElroy in a seven on seven game that if he (Snead) had not been forced to leave at halftime, he was pretty sure his team would have won. I really don't think there's a lack of self-confidence in Snead. If Ole Miss comes together magically for the first time this weekend, this could be a real battle. Do I think Bama still wins if that happens? But of course.

Snead is a dangerous man. Like Julius Caesar says in Shakespeare's play, "He has that lean and hungry look. Such men are dangerous. Would he were fatter. But, I fear him not."
