🧑‍🍳 Since it's part of the national conversation and I'm curious 🙃 ... what are y'all paying for a dozen eggs?

I had a delivery yesterday, including a dozen eggs, and I got curious how much more I paid yesterday versus the last few orders.

2/7: $5.51
1/31: $4.96.

OK. That shocked me a bit. That's a .55 jump in a week.

I looked back a little farther. 1/20: $4.17 for the same.

18 days ...

On that note, I saw a report where Waffle House is now charging a .50 surcharge, per egg. (How do they make waffles? As in, with what?) It only applies to eggs according to the report. So, with me, that's an extra buck, at least.

I also read where Cracker Barrell ( @It Takes Eleven this should excite you) isn't. I still ain't going into that truck stop/furniture store wanna be.

OH! 12/26, the day after Christmas last year...$3.97 a dozen. (Same price on the fifth of December.)

I bought a dozen extra large at Walmart yesterday in Pell City, 5.17, I believe. I went to buy a bore snake for a new rifle, and decided to buy a few things due to the growing disparity with Publix prices. Half gallon of milk (about $1.50 less), eggs are certainly a dollar or more less, Good People IPA was about a $1.50 less for a six-pack. Three items, probably a 4.25-5.25 difference. I saved enough to almost pay for a 250 pack of patches.

I said the same thing about pancakes! We don't have a Waffle House around here close, but we do have a Huddle House. But I get a free MVP Breakfast before the end of the month. It's my birthday on the 11th I will be Three score and 10 years.

Dozen egg here I paid $5.44. Now if you look @It Takes Eleven paid less then I did. That because we only have two grocery, If you call Wal Mart a grocery. One is a private owned store. that the price of egg were $6.24.

I know I pay more because I usually by 1.5 dozen at a time. And sometimes, 2 dozen. I eat a lot of eggs so a dozen wouldn't even last me a week. But to be honest, I have no idea what I pay. I never look at the prices. I just buy what I need.

I suck at math but can't help doing it inside my head with every purchase I make. I don't know how I remember prices to be honest. (IE: I bought a portable work station/stand/sawhorse deal last week that ran right over $100...I remember buying one when I put in my hardwood flooring quite a while ago: same one, $39.99.)

IE: $5.46 this morning for a dozen, $9.02 for 18...balances out to be about a nickel cheaper for the dozen.

Like you, I use more than a dozen a week. Hell, six yesterday (quiche) and about to use another six (salad at lunch, Hot Milk cake I'm going to make later today.)

(I ought to share that recipe for the Hot Milk cake...sweet, but not overly sweet...'bout like what a pound cake would do for a sweet tooth. Hell, if I EVER get to putting things in the Resources area here...recipes might be a good one.)

The only time I really look at the cost is when I go to Costco. I have to buy the Costco Shop Card since they don't take Mastercard in-store (I don't own a Visa card). I can use my Mastercard online to buy a Chop Card then use that to pay at the register. But since it's a set amount, I have to keep track of what I'm buying. I'm always under and always have a bit left over, but since the $$$ amount is set, I have to keep an eye on everything. But that's not a bad thing. At least I know how much I can spend and keep it to a budget (of sorts).

OK, I looked at the price of a dozen yesterday when I was at the grocery store (Publix). They were a little over $5.
Weird coincidences and an egg story.

Never say, out loud, where you are going. I mentioned to my neighbor I was headed to the pet store to get some shampoo for the dogs. It's right next to Harris Teeter. He (his wife if we're honest) asked if I'd pick up a birthday cake for their daughter. No big deal.

I looked at eggs: 30ct for $10. That's not a bad deal: they had two left. Both had at least three broken...they remained right where they were!

Luckily, I’m paying around 12 bucks for four dozen every two weeks.. I know a lady that just has a bunch of pet laying hens…All she ever asked is if I helped her buying bags of laying pellets… her eggs are like Easter eggs.. robin egg, blue, brown, green and red..
