Coach Saban won the Dodd Trophy, which has become the most prestigious COY award, a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, they never award it to the same person within 15 or so years. Only two have ever won it twice ... Paterno and Snyder and again only after many years apart. I feel certain CS will be the third before he retires.

What are your thoughts on Pat Fitzgerald winning the Dodd this season? That Northwestern team is the polar opposite of what football is today. Hell, I think the only time they scored more than 30 this season was in their opener against Maryland. I like Whittingham as a head coach but I'm far from the point of thinking he was the COY last season.

Heck, just remembered...Dabo following the 2011 season. How does that fit?

I can't recall which year it was that Saban was notified he was going to be COY and he declined the invitation to the ceremony and the award went to someone else.
