Watching the CBS NCAA preview show got me thinking. After the past couple of years BCS results, and this years preseason polls, is the MWC a better conference than the Big East? Should the Mountain West replace the Big East as a BCS Conference?

I don't see any difference in the two. I would think there is some kind of ongoing comparrison between the "haves" and "have-nots" and the bottom "have" would always be in jeopardy of being replaced by the top 'have-not".

Personally I think the Mountain West is better with respect to football than the Big East or the ACC, no disrespect to Va. Tech intended. The ACC got most of its teams bowl eligible a year ago by having nearly all of its teams around the break even mark in conference play and then killing a few non conference patsies.

Big east has better history but MW has been better last few year

Mountain west finish with 2 teams in top 10 and 3 in top 25

BIg east

Cincinnati
UCONN
Louisville
PITT
Rutgers
South Florida
Syracuse
West Virgina

Mountain West

Airforce
BYU
Colorodo State
New Mexico
San Diego State
TCU
UNLV
UTAH
Wyoming

I say yes because I'm a MWC homer, but the MWC has to build on last season. I like the strength at the top of the MWC, but the Big East has more depth.

I'd feel a lot better about our case if Colorado St returned to being a fringe top 25 team like they were earlier in the decade. Maybe SDSU can capitalize on everything it has going for them in terms of resources and their new coaching staff. TCU earning a BCS bid this year would help as well.

I honestly think we beat out the Big East in 2014 for the auto-bid if we expand to 12 teams in the next 2 years, adding Boise St, Houston, and maybe a Tulsa or a Fresno St; or if we add Boise St in the place of Wyoming.
