šŸˆ Sheridan said early on if Gus doesn't beat UGA and Bama he's out. If he loses...

...is he still out?

I'm wondering if the talk about Arkansas is his agent bluffing or it's got some legs?

Arkansas insiders are willing to admit that Jeff Long is out as AD, and one reason, because of his stubborn position against hiring Malzahn. For Gus, why not get out while the getting is his idea? Even if he survived this year, he will always be a couple of losses from the hot seat. That has got to be getting old. With the new AD search at the barn, I believe Gus will be listening to any offer out of Fayetteville, very seriously.

A guy that lurks on Auburn boards a lot copied this. He's considered "plugged in."

The push from Arkansas is real, and it has been since he stayed up there after our game with them and met with some ā€œfriendsā€ that want to bring him back. Here’s the context:

Leading up to that game, Gus hadn’t beaten anyone of note in a few years, and has had a very average run post-2013. His fear was losing to Georgia and Alabama, no extension, and having to beat them both on the road next year or he’d be fired. He’d be crazy not to listen.

So, his boosters are excited, and he was telling them he’d love to have the job (or was at least very interested). Then, Auburn beat the crap ($1 to Gus) out of UGA and everything has changed.

Now Sexton is putting the screws to Leath and will get everyone worked up, knowing that the new President will need this over quickly— he doesn’t want to be hiring a football coach and an AD.

Most likely they’ll be talking over the next few days about an extension, and will come to an agreement after the IB and before the SECCG, as long as Gus wins next week. If he gets beat, then we’ll see. The money and extension may not be what Sexton wants and then the game of chicken begins.

Regardless, if Gus wins the IB he ain’t leaving. He’s gonna get paid, and he won’t be packing up and moving.

Versus the buyout he'll get with an extension from AU?

Think about what Arkansas has been willing to do to get the ball rolling? Everyone wants to be loved and the pressure has been on Gus for the longest. Just last season, it was the LSU/barner game and losing coach is gone. How close was that call? Apparently 1 extra second on the clock. I would put a lot of stock in going home, being wanted, familiar circumstances, a lot less pressure for years to come. With Bielema making 4.25 mil, how far off can they be?

I get that.

I also get that people like Chiz is probably still getting paid from AU. Gus is going to pay attention to that buyout...he can't help it.

He's losing consistently with Auburn talent. He'll lose more with Arkansas talent. It would be a horrible career move...one that Kristi might suggest considering her judgement.

You guy hear that Tubby want to come back!

heard his name thrown around for ad; not so much for hc.

but i've been saying for a few years now that what they need to do is get rid of dye. he holds too many cards and has too much power to let the head coach do what they need to do with the program and be as successful as they need the hc to be. he has his hand in too many things and doesn't let the hc have the power they need to do what needs to get done. and as long as he's there, he'll continue to do so and it will keep a strangle-hold on the hc while he is.
