When rick4bama mentioned Jackie Sherrill yesterday I had a few flashbacks to that season.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't have high hopes for the Tide that year, or the year before, or the year after.

Music City bowl against Va Tech? Great weather for football there! :lance: I recall people complaining about our off week being the third week of the season. Seems fairly benign now considering the off weeks for opponents in 2010, doesn't it?

Hell, you want to know how weird '98 was? Try this one on for size. Mississippi State won the western division that year though you would have thought Arkansas would have after the shellacking the Bulldogs took from LSU. And, that was the worst defeat we've ever suffered from the 'Backs, I'd bet. What was it? Six touchdowns?

That was a weird season for Arkansas now that I think about it. I believe they were undefeated up until the UT game then lost back to back games against the Vols and Dawgs.

Damn. Everyone in the west sucked that year. Times change, eh? If I recall correctly Auburn and LSU finished with seven wins, combined. We finished 7-5. MSU finished 8-4?

The 98 Arky game sucked big time!! I was in one of my best friends' wedding in Jackson,TN. We watched the game and it was embarrassing!! Had to go get bombed afterwards!! Wasn't the final like 38-6 or something like that?!! 98 was indeed a crazy ass year!! Wasn't the UT-Arky game decided by a QB fumble that gave UT the ball back and won the game and jumped them into the national title game?

That, and a few other strange plays. It was the same game UArk's deep snapper put the ball over their punters head and he ended up kicking it through the end zone for a safety.
