Compare Coach Saban's defensive ability as a coach to Monte Kiffen's.

Monte has yet to prove that he can bring effects to the college game, as Saban has. Further, Monte is not so respected that he was offered, coveted even, as a Head Coach. Heck, his Son is seen as a better hire.

John Chavis has been solid enough to have staying power at Tennessee, and then to be rehired in the SEC by LSU. Someone respects him.

Will Muschamp could have entered the conversation a couple of years ago, but...

Bottom line, everyone has to be compared to Saban...and all fall short.

I don't that think this was the case. I think Vol Administration new that if they hired Lee Kiffin that there was a good chance that Monte would follow.
