I just went to a convenience store for snacks before I got home. There was a homeless man outside sitting on the ground listening to the radio. I realized he was listening to the BAMA game! He had a ragged Bama sweatshirt on. He saw my Bama hoodie and in his thick southern accent, he gave me a hearty roll tide! We started chatting and I learned about how he was from Birmingham. Used to go to Bama games with his dad in the 1970s and 80s. He had tears in his eyes. We got him some food and a hot chocolate and we all chatted for a bit while listening to the game. Very sweet man who fell on rough times. Said he hasn't been able to watch an actual game in 3 years. But he listens faithfully when he can, and asks strangers for score updates.
