šŸˆ SEC suspends officials

pretty good read on the story...from the officials standpoint and he lives in B'ham.

"I saw out of the corner of my eye -- the play went over near the sideline," Curles recalls. "I'm trailing the play, moving in that direction. And out of the corner of my eye, I see a vicious blow, and I see the Florida player go flying down 20 yards behind the play. And in my mind, the Arkansas guy had blindsided him and knocked the player that was completely out of the play, which would have been a personal foul. Obviously, that isn't what happened. Where I made the mistake is I didn't see the whole thing. I didn't see how it developed. I saw out of the corner of my eye what I thought was a foul. I can't think something is a foul. I got to know it is. And that was my mistake. And I know better than that. What makes me mad at myself is that I know better than to call something if I didn't see the whole thing. And I've been sick about it ever since, quite frankly.

If the corruption is ever uncovered it will monumentally change the landscape of collegiate athletics. I have no doubt that officials have had their hand in the cookie jar. It will break... eventually.

These officials were supposed to be doing the Bama game this weekend. Believe it or not, some ut alumni have very deep pockets. We need to count our blessings the crew was suspended.

My pick would have to change more drastically now to say Bama will win by even more. Saturday will not be close.

this is what you call RUMOR...

My work allows me quite a bit of time online. That said, here's a confession—if you want to call it that.

I have a fascination, morbid perhaps, watching rumors grow. This one had legs of it's own...split like a cheerleader.

Arkansas fans were all caught up Monday night because they had "heard" they were getting the crew.

Monday, a guy posted the same message saying Bama was getting the crew—it was posted on Rivals.com main message board.

Then, linked on BOL. Then, repeated on Tidesports. Then, made its way here and a few other boards.

All of those last ones in pretty rapid succession.

After this had run wild for about two or three hours a guy posted it wasn't the truth and explained how he knew it wasn't the truth.

NOW, that word didn't make it anywhere. In fact, on the original thread on BOL, people were more satisfied bitching about the original rumor than reading the truth...posted in the exact same thread.

I watched a handful of people mention a variety of ways this wasn't the case—all ignored.

If you have ever wondered why good insight isn't as easily found about Bama now, as it was several years ago, this is a prime example.

I'm VERY happy they are facing some consequences for throwing flags for things they barely saw out of the corner of their eye. I think there needs to be a rule to allow a coach challenge a penalty.

I guess when you see something written, Terry, it's difficult to spot the truth sticker somewhere. Can you post some examples about bitching about the original "rumor"?
