Bama was way down, but still led the pack. If I were LSU, I'd be embarassed at 8th!

1 •Alabama 78,526
2 •Arkansas 45,250
3 •Georgia 44,117
4 •Auburn 43,427
5 •Florida 38,100
6 •Tennessee 35,421
7 •South Carolina 34,513
8 •LSU 33,000
9 •Ole Miss 25,000
10 •Mississippi State 22,604
11 •Missouri 18,614
12 •Texas A&M 15,000
13 •Vanderbilt 8,500
14 •Kentucky 4,500

It would be interesting to know which schools charge admission. I'd also be willing to be Vandy's numbers go up next year.

That's average for one of LSU's spring games. They had one a few years ago that was about half of that, but they also had horrible weather that weekend.

FWIW, we've averaged 78,200 since Saban arrived, so we are actually a little above average.

Coach Saban stated that to his knowledge we have not had the highest spring game attendance in the nation twice since he has been here -- both being immediatley after winning national championships.

Interesting if true. He pointed this out, I think, to warn against fans easing up with their support. Whereas this may be true, I had the question "What in the world is Coach Saban doing comparing Spring Game attendance figures?" Its hard to make his comment not sound like easing up on pressing on himself.

Strictly my opinion...

We've seen things like this happen more than once; far too often if you ask me. How I view things tend to differ than others though.

A few days ago there was a post on another forum recapping some of the things Saban had talked about at one of the CC events. Out of the 12 to 15 different subjects in that thread, one dealt with the crowd at A-day. Among all the positives mentioned in that thread, what point do you think a lot of people pulled out of it and went with? You guessed it, attendance.

What's funny to me, but certainly not shocking, were those voicing their "complaints." They were members seldom seen, even more seldom heard, pointing to this as if it was some cataclysmic event. It was much ado about nothing.

Before the event in Birmingham two night ago, the reporters were allowed to question CNS before he spoke.

Ask yourself this question. Where do you think the subject of attendance came up?

There were a lot of people around Tuscaloosa that Saturday. IF there was one area where some could point and say, "do your part," it would be to those who were there for a few minutes and then left. And, to complain about that? Come on man!

I'd bet the number of people coming to A-day isn't weighing heavily on Saban's mind. Those that are "concerned" about it fall into similar categories...what can we point to, then complain about, today?

I'll point out that it was not me complaining, but reather Coach Saban himself. In fact, no one had broached the topic of attendance but evidently it was on his mind. This was the same event where he stressed that fans must remain positive.

You mentioned Tuscaloosa and Birmingham where there were thousands of non-attendees. What I find odd is that he comments were made to a group who live 12 hours away; a group of peopel who are not likely to be the solution to the A-Day attendance shortfalling. This message is not positive, which is why it is remarkable.
