Talk about luck. You go from Billy Donovan, to a 'minor' set back with Mike White (still have an Elite 8 run), and then get Todd Golden.

Ole Miss beats auburn 85-79. Just the 4th SEC win for the Rebels and they get it IN auburn. Man auburn has sunk quickly without Bruce. Pretty amazing really. Funny, but amazing.

This must be what they felt like when we had Avery. I think Steven gets another year but that's it. We have to hope they fumble another hire and put their program back to where it was under Barbee.

I agree he gets another year. I think he will have to build a new team for the most part, but he will get the chance. And he should, IMO. But I think he even loses Pettiford to the portal... dude came back to enhance his draft status and I think if anything, it's been hurt.

My auburn buddy (booster there) thinks that if the football side starts winning again, the basketball side will suffer, especially without Bruce who had the admin by the balls. But he says the money just won't be there for both to thrive long term unless something changes (with NIL rules).

Definitely could happen. Depends on the coach IMO. Oats has certain limitations here too because we don't have ultra rich alumni giving him blank checks for recruits. But because he wins, he is given a whole lot more than what Avery or Grant would have ever gotten. Like when he was first hired, he and Hogdson were given the green light to fly that private jet as much as possible to recruit.

I think if you have an elite coach, fans will do whatever it takes to ensure to maintain momentum and program success. I imagine their fans are doing the same when it comes to support Butch Thompson.

A bit of a weird mid-week schedule for the SEC: seven games on Tuesday, one Wednesday night.

I'm sure I'm wrong but I don't recall seeing an SEC vs SEC game, in CST, tipping at 10 PM during the regular season. LSU is at Auburn Tuesday, tipping late at 11 ET?!

It really just gets a little weirder this weekend. Out of the eight SEC games scheduled for Saturday, the only one not televised is Vandy's trip to Tennessee?

In my opinion he will end up bring them in the spotlight, and then he'll step back and watch them fade. That is, IF, we see the same in year two of CSP. If he's fired, I can not seeing Pearl hanging around the basketball program like a Pat Dye figure. And I believe he had earned that good will.

I ended up finding the answer to my question later on last night... basically, it was nothing, and not what I'd hoped. I wanted something that would carry over and lead to Cal choke slamming that little fuck after the game. Or maybe having a lieutenant cut his brake lines.

Call it corny or whatever but this is pretty cool by Utah State. Other than an occasional "White Out", our athletic department never does anything like this for games. I just don't understand who runs our marketing department, but it's like they do absolutely nothing to promote the other programs.

To me this is what amateur sports is all about. I don't see it as corny at all.
