🏈 SEC media days lineup announced

The annual SEC media days begin Monday, which means we are in for another preseason circus in Hoover, Alabama. It also means we are that much closer to the start of fall camp and the college football season. I wonder if any fan base will dwarf the Alabama fans who'll be lined up inside the lobby of the Wynfrey Hotel. Probably not. That's Tide turf, and everyone knows it. Media days run from July 14-17. The SEC's official website, ESPN, ESPNU and WatchESPN will have continuous coverage of all the festivities.

ALABAMA

The Crimson Tide send a safety in Landon Collins and two wide receivers to Hoover, but absent are the two players most would prefer to see.

It is widely rumored that redshirt junior Jacob Coker will start under center for the Tide, but the FSU transfer is not traveling to Hoover. Understandable, perhaps … but disappointing.

Also absent is Bama’s leading returning rusher T.J. Yeldon. While Yeldon is known to lead more with his actions than his words, this is also understandable. However, it is again disappointing.

Amari Cooper will have much to say, and Christion Jones is something of a character. He’s known to speak “freely”, as my grandfather used to s

Sending Coker would have been bad mojo with the team. Although he seems to be the presumptive starting QB, he has not earned that yet. These three guys have paid their dues WITH the Crimson Tide. I would have liked to have seen DePriest as well though.

It's not a media session (interviews with players) I'm looking forward to watching—not that very many are. The number may be a little high if I were to say 50% of the questions posed to these guys will be about how Coker has looked in the summer. But, it will be the most asked question. What amuses me is how anyone expects any of these guys to say something other than "he's looked good."

I am interested in hearing how Saban reacts to a lot of Coker questions. I suspect he'll try to cut the number as small as he can. How he does that? There's my interest.

I'm sure there will be plenty of questions about Coker, but until he starts practicing with the team, how do you respond? I'm also curious on how he is on the Maxwell watch list already, based on what?

Do not get me wrong, I hope Coker does well and flourishes at Alabama, but right now it looks like hype and speculation.

I agree although some of the hype is from those who have been around him more than the Alabama staff. Of course, Alabama fans will be "blamed" for the hype by rivals.

You pretty well answered your own question here.

There are almost 80 players on the list and asking why they are there is a good question for a lot of them.
