šŸˆ SEC Expansion Could End Alabama-Tennessee Tradition

A line in an NCAA By Law vs. Traditional Rivalries
The NCAA has to consider they possibility that conferences and division would grow so large that playing every team in your division would kill too many rivalries. The easiest solution is to select a different way to determine division champions.

ACC model would not have this issue.
The ACC is not locked in to one-side versus the other. If the divisions were redrawn keeping rivals with rivals, the issue would be null.

I don't see it happening either, but I'm also aware of what is occurring currently here in Texas between Texas vs Texas A&M. There is a possibility that this rivalry game could be over now, if Texas A&M comes to the SEC.

At the end of the day, everything is a possibility...

Not to mention the OU vs Tx game. But, like Stoops put it about the RRR...the Nebraska series with OU ended a few years ago when they first went to a championship game format. Things like this are bound to happen as the landscape of college football changes.

IF OU vs TX falls by the wayside seeing a game like UA vs UT fall wouldn't shock me at all. Hell, we are less than a decade removed from people wanting that series to take a break and allow the fan bases to cool off some. It took two coaches and right at three years and we are still seeing a lot of hate.

I'm sure the powers to be will find ways to make it work. Heck Notre Dame plays USC every year.

Will that continue when the Pac-12 reaches 16? You have to consider with ND being independent it gives them a little more leeway in scheduling as well.

With everything that is gonig on and being tossed around with conference realignment, I wouldn't be surprised at anything at this point. However, I sure would hate to see the Tennessee game go by the wayside. Stranger things have happened though, look at how long the Auburn game went away years ago.

Shallow article. Fails to address(probably intentionally because that would kill his article) the VERY real possibility that a 14 team conference would most likely play a 9 conference game schedule making his point moot. Format would be 6-1-2, which is the same rotating schedule presently. Hell, the PAC-12 played a complete 9 game round robin conference schedule when it was the PAC-10.
