It's one thing with safety in mind. But this is a part of the game itself.

Imagine a Saturday afternoon and having a 10 run lead on LSU where you're able to get to another four pitchers in their bullpen. But, nope! Run ruled. If Sunday's game is a tie-breaker scenario now you're effecting a lot more.

The :30 second rule between batters can affect the defense as well but they probably aren't thinking about a pitcher having to back up the catcher in a play at the plate.
