🏈 Scouting McCoy

I'll admit I havne''t watched too many Texas Games this year (3 total), but in those three games (OK, A&M and Neb) twice they faced tough defenses and struggled mightely. One they face a tough rushing attack and struggled to stop it. Both times the offense struggled, they had to face a tough pass rush, but... this is important, neither OK nor Neb disquised their defenses or changed their D at the last second the way Alabama does. How quickly can McCoy recognize the Alabama schemes? An X-factor if you will.

I'm almost thinking that we don't blitz him initially, sort of the way we played Tennessee's guy this year. Crompton does a better job running and throwing, but isn't a great runner. So, let him sit in there in the pocket, get happy feet, and miss his receivers. Maybe do the same to McCoy? What I don't want is a lot of third down conversions that he pulls out with his feet. Hey, if the guy is clutch and can get the ball to his receiver at just the right times, then he's going to be hard to beat. But maybe, just maybe, he gets too comfortable in that pocket early, maybe completes some passes, but doesn't have to scramble, then we get on him.

Big picture stuff, but stuff I've been thinking about.
